It takes two to make a scandal…

What kind of woman ventures into London’s most notorious pleasure club? An outsider like Graciela, the Duchess of Autenberry, snubbed time and time again by society because of her Spanish roots. Ela longs to take a lover for a single, wild night, and within the walls of Sodom there are gentlemen to suit every forbidden taste. If only she were not so drawn to the smoldering Lord Strickland…a dangerous man who sees beyond her mask, and could ruin her reputation with a mere whisper.

Lord Strickland never permitted himself to fantasize about the sultry, off-limits lady, but then he never expected to find Ela in a place so wicked, looking for what he’s more than too happy to give. She may not be to the ton’s taste, but she suits him perfectly. First, however, he must convince her to trust in this dangerous desire—and in the promise of forever unleashed by one wild, scandalous night.

Quick Thoughts: Part of what I love about Sophie Jordan is she writes unconventional historical romances. This is no exception to that rule. The leading lady Graciela was older than the leading guy Collin. Their romance doesn’t follow a typical road either. While I wanted Graciela to have a bit more backbone, I did enjoy their romance. I am really looking forward to the third book in this series because Sophie is going to have to work some magic to make the lead guy in that one worthy of love 🙂

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated by: Carmen Rose /Length: 7 hrs and 46 mins

Carmen does an excellent job with this series and I loved her voice for Graciela (which has a bit of a Spanish background). I recommend this on audio!

    • Sophie Jordan was nice enough to give me a freebie download of All The Ways to Ruin a Rouge, so someday that will be my first historical romance of hers hopefully.

  1. there was a feeling of backbone to this story and I agree that what I admire about this author is her uncoventional stories. Although her older books are still my favorites. But I did like this one quite a bit.

  2. I crazy loved Sophie Jordan’s the Ivy Chronicles series so hard! It’s a new adult series of standalone novels – Foreplay #1, Crash #1.5, Tease #2 and Wild #3 (I read the e-books and then reread the corresponding audiobooks. The audiobook narrators weren’t great with doing the opposite gender voices, but the stories were still just as engrossing for me. Sophie recommended one of her historical romances to me when I finally met her in person at the RT Booklover’s Convention in Vegas last year. I’m glad to hear you liked this one, so I’ll keep this one in mind as well.
