Don’t leave me here... It starts with a whisper. At first Trinity thinks she’s going crazy. It wouldn’t be a big surprise—her grandpa firmly believes there’s a genuine dragon egg in their dusty little West Texas town. But this voice is real, and it’s begging for her protection. Even if no one else can hear it...

He’s come from a future scorched by dragonfire. His mission: Find the girl. Destroy the egg. Save the world.

He’s everything his twin brother Connor hates: cocky, undisciplined, and obsessed with saving dragons.

Trinity has no idea which brother to believe. All she has to go by is the voice in her head—a dragon that won’t be tamed.

JUST A NOTE: Read It File It is for books that I have read that I need to keep track of. The reviews will be super short (think tweet longer length) but will serve the purpose of getting the books into UBB for tracking purposes 🙂

Read It File It (Short Review: I have to admit that the 2nd half of Scorched by Mari Mancusi really hooked me! The beginning wasn’t bad but it took a bit till I was invested in the characters (Trin is a great leading character but neither brother was hooking me in the beginning. After everything clicked though the book was hard to put down. It was just downright enjoyable! Confession: I just started playing WOW again so the dragons were a big pull to me reading this story and Mari didn’t let me down!

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Miriam Volle / Length: 9 hrs and 48 mins

I thought Mariam Volle did a decent job with the narration. I think book 2 will probably work better for me than book 1 because I am now used to her male voices (those took me a bit to warm up too). Her pacing was terrific though and I thought she was spot on for Trin!

  1. I remember liking this one well enough, but I haven’t felt compelled to continue the series. I haven’t read any books yet for book two.

  2. I’m always tempted when a book has dragons 😀 I’m okay with a slow start, and it sounds like this one hooked you in the end, so that works. I’ll have to add it to my tbr.

Side note: I’ve never played WOW – I fear yall would never see me again lol

  3. I was tempted to start this series on account of the dragons, and that cover—wow! It IS Young Adult though, so I’ll need to do a bit more research, I’m always hesitant to add a book in this genre to my TBR. Have a fan weekend!

  4. I used to read sci-fi/fantasy when I was a teen, but then I backed away from it for a long time. Thanfully George R.R. Martin and Patrick Rothfuss have pulled me back in, so I might be giving this one a try! Here there be dragons!
