I haven’t done one of these in FOREVER but #LibraryCardSignUp Month is September so every Monday in September I will show you how I use my library Hold and Loan System ONLINE!! I am a huge fan of Overdrive.
Let’s start with HOLDS: I have 3 library cards and use the hold system to it’s fullest!
Library 1: Local
Library 2: Cross City Agreement Library
Library 3: Anybody in the State is allowed a Library Card
A couple of ways I use my Library System:
*To check out books that I have the audiobook (I like to have the text to refer to)
*If I really want a book I will put on hold in more than one library to see which one I get it first
*Cookbooks!!!!!
*Non-Fiction Books!!! True Crime specifically
*Books I have heard are good but I am not sure I will like!
How do you use your library hold system? Do you have more than one library card?

I have a library card for the Los Angeles Public Library (more extensive e-media collection) and the Burbank Public Library systems. I use LAPL for e-books and audiobooks and BPL mainly for checking out DVDs of television series I like to binge watch since BPL’s OverDrive collection is new and still somewhat sparse.
I’ve put a book on hold at multiple libraries too. I sometimes forget to take myself off the list when I get a book from the first one. I’m up to three library cards now too. π
I’ve got my Denton card, covering the 3 locations here as well as the in state card. I don’t know what my problem is, but I never find what I’m looking for when I want it. It is the first place I go when I am looking for something though. I mostly get audios though, and mostly with Hoopla. I have a love/hate relationship with Hoopla LOL
I think because I was in a huge reading slump last year I am so behind that I am hardly ever looking for something new.
I have 3 library cards, 4 if you could a friend I have her info. I have my one from MN which since I still have property there I can belong. It has the most. I also have my brother’s from Tampa, FL. It is also very good, large selection. He hasn’t used it in the 30 years he lived there but he got it for me. And then I have Wake Cty NC where I live which is the worst. They have almost nothing. So I almost never go there unless I have to resort to ILL and get a physical book / audio. I just discovered audio about 2 years ago and I do lots of that on my iphone.
I like having more than one π They each have different availability π
I have 2 libraries, local and the same in state one you do (I think you’re the one that told me about it lol) I do a lot of audiobooks through both and not too many ebooks anymore.
Houston freaking rocks. I am doing a post towards the end of the month that proves Houston is one of only a few libraries in the US that allows all state residents to have a card.
I also have Plano and The Colony π I have Frisco to but they only allow physical checkouts.
I use 3 library cards also. I have the FW card, the North Richland Hills card, which is part of the North Texas Library system, and the Houston Library card. I prefer ebooks, just because I can read in bed easier with my paperwhite than a real book. So I will request whatever book I want as an ebook first with all three libraries and then a paperback or hardback afterward with the first two, since I am not driving to Houston to check out a book. I actually had my old card from the El Paso Library system for a while after we moved, but it expired.
PS. What are your 2nd and 3rd libraries? I’d like to add them to my list. I tried to join the Plano Library but since we don’t live there, I couldn’t.
The Colony and Plano (are local and city trade) then Houston. I have a Frisco Library Card to BUT I can only do the physical books not their online library. I keep meaning to get to Lewisville as I think I could get one there too π
I usually put on hold those I want the most cos I know I will never make it to the li rary before someone gets them
If I was just having to get physical books I would be right there with you π π
