For #JIAM16 I am going to spotlight some of my favorite narrators. I plan on doing one a day until the end of June. I hope you will give them a listen and if you have favorite narrators use this month to thank them for bringing such rich layers to stories we love!

Katherine Kellgren is the award-winning narrator of over 250 audiobooks, including winners of the Audie Award, the American Library Association’s Odyssey Honor, the Earphones Award, the Publishers Weekly Listen Up Award, and ForeWord Magazine’s Audiobook of the Year. She was named one of AudioFile Magazine’s Best Voices of the Year for 2008 – 2013 and has been added to AudioFile’s list of Golden Voices. She was named the 2011 “Voice of Choice” by Booklist Magazine. In 2009, 2013 & 2014 she received the Audie Award for Best Solo Narration – Female. Among her titles are L.A. Meyer’s Bloody Jack series, Rick Riordan’s The Kane Chronicles, and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies as well as numerous books by Sophie Kinsella, Angie Sage, E.D. My Reviews

Why I like her:

Katherine is another narrator that I have listened to far more than I have reviewed. I have listened to the whole Rhys Bowen series (kind of refuse to “read” them at this point LOL) and one of my favorite narrations by her is Timeless Tales of Beatrix Potter: Peter Rabbit and Friends. She has narrated everything from children’s books to Nora Roberts. One of the best things about her narration is sometimes you forget you are listening to the same person when listening. She manages to somehow sound older here and younger there while making it all sound seamless. This just reminds me that I need to finish out the Alethea Kontis series stat! 🙂

Thank You Audiobook

  1. I don’t think I’ve listened to her, but I think I might have Peter Rabbit on audio. Audible did a free deal on it at sone point. I haven’t listened to it. I did pick up Grimm’s Fairy Tales, but haven’t listened to it either. I had a ton of review books pour in all at the same time.

  2. Loved her voice on the samples. A personal favorite of mine is Jennifer Ikeda (A Discovery of Witches). I discovered her voice while suffering through a commuter job. I had a hard time actually reading the books without automatically hearing her voice.
