#JIAM Narrator: January Lavoy #LoveAudiobooks

For #LoveAudiobooks  I am going to spotlight some of my (and my fellow listeners) favorite narrators. I plan on doing one spotlight post a day until the end of June. Some of them will be single narrators and other will have multiple narrators. I will also sprinkle in a couple of spotlight on genre posts that will recognize my favorites in that area. I hope you will give them a listen and if you have favorite narrators use this month to thank them for bringing such rich layers to stories we love!

Today I am spotlighting January Lavoy! I fangirled so hard (and wasn’t even cool about it) when I met her earlier this year. She is just freaking brilliant and her range is outstanding. If you haven’t listened to an audiobook by her go out and do that!

Named Publishers Weekly’s “Audiobook Narrator of the Year” for 2013, January has an extensive body of work in both narration and commercial voiceover.  Her voice has been heard in national campaigns for products such as Revlon, Toll House, United Health Care, Dannon, Asthma.com, Home Depot, and Obama for America. She has won multiple Audie Awards, most recently in 2016 for her work on Libba Bray’s Lair of Dreams. More here

  1. I haven’t listened to January before, but based on the books she’s narrated, I can see why. But that cover of Mother GO grabs me. I’ll need to check it out!

    • She did do the Drafter series by Kim Harrison but she does a lot of SciFi and Thrillers. She did do The Liar by Nora Roberts (which I think is romantic suspense).

  2. I LOVE January LaVoy! My first listening experience was her performance in Nora Robert’s The Liar and she made that book.

I just downloaded Camino Island without knowing she was the narrator and shouted when I saw her listed. I actually give titles a second look when I see her name.

    • I do too! She just rocks! I have Camino Island on my list too (though I am going to library it) because I just have to listen. She does a lot of my favorite thrillers!
