Dr. Charlotte Stone returns in Karen Robards’s sizzling new thriller!

Madness and murder invaded Dr. Charlotte Stone’s life when she was just a girl—and made her a woman determined to save others from the horror she survived. An expert in the psychology of serial killers, she’s faced down more than her share of human monsters. But Charlie can also communicate with the spirits of those who die violently, an extrasensory skill that has helped the FBI bring lethal predators to justice.

Now, after narrowly escaping death a second time, Charlie’s ready to step away from the edge... before her luck runs out.

Too bad Charlie is too dedicated for her own good—and too devoted to federal agent Tony Bartoli to say no when he asks her to ride shotgun on yet another risky mission. Of course, she already has her hands full with Michael Garland: the handsome, roguish ghost with whom she’s hopelessly in love—a spirit who depends on Charlie to keep him from slipping forever into the dark side of the afterlife. But in the mortal world, beautiful single women are vanishing from Las Vegas hotels at night. All signs indicate that a psychopath is on the prowl in Sin City, and Bartoli’s FBI colleague Lena Kaminsky has reason to fear that her missing sister may be just the killer’s type.

In a town full of fast players and few rules, flushing out a smooth-talking stalker like the Cinderella Killer might be a loser’s game. But for Charlie, the only way to cage her quarry is to plunge back into the homicidal hell she vowed to leave behind—and may not leave alive...

NOTE: Her Last Whisper by Karen Robards is a hot mess of pretty much every troupe I hate AND I loved pretty much every minute of it!

First Thought when Finished: This is one of those series that I can’t quite figure out why I love it (other than Karen is an excellent writer) but I do. I mean it has a TSTL leading lady (seriously she even calls herself out), a love triangle between a ghost & living man (oddly I am rooting for the serial killer ghost), AND the stories tend to freaking end with a cliffhanger (WHAT THE WHAT??). Yet I freaking love reading these. They are the exception apparently to every rule I set when picking up a book. Maybe the secret is throwing them all in and make me care how it all turns out!

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated by: Ann Marie Lee /Length: 13 hrs and 57 mins

I love this series on Audio. Ann Marie does a fantastic job with all the characters. Her character nuances are right on and her accents are pretty authentic. I would recommend this on audio.

  1. Hah! I love when an author can manage to make me love a story chock full of things I typically hate. That’s a sign of a very good storyteller:) Is it weird that I’m kind of rooting for the serial killer ghost too? Not sure what that says about me:)

    • No you have to join me on the crazy side cause that is where the most fun is (to be honest I don’t really think he was a serial killer but that is all still being flushed out). However he is the hunkiest 🙂

  2. Ha! Your thoughts are hilarious. I always amuse myself when I love a book that has everything I ranted about in a review just a week before. lol

I guess it just goes to show that these tropes can work with the right author.

    • I think that is the key–the right author writing them 🙂 Though to be honest if I knew they existed before I started the story I would have never picked it up but now I am invested. LOL 🙂

  3. Okay, okay, you had me at love triangle with a serial killer ghost…lol. Going to have to put these on the TBR pile, sounds like an interesting series. 🙂
