Ripper: The Secret Life of Walter Sickert

My Thoughts: Listened to for Fun (Audible)
Overall Rating: DNF

Audio Rating: 4.00 (not part of the overall rating)

DNF thoughts : This is frustrating because she further bends things to fit her theory. I had to DNF!

The Deep End by Kristen Ashley

Listened for Fun (Audible)
Overall Rating: DNF

DNF Thoughts: I tried, I really did but while I love Kristen Ashley this story just didn’t work for me. I could not stand Amèlie —she just made me want to scream. Oliver was ok but his safe word made me roll my eyes which I don’t think the exact reaction that she was going for (or maybe she was). I made about 3 hours and then just had to stop. I think some people will really love this book though as it is still pretty classic Kristen Ashley storytelling.

  1. Bummer! I’ve lamented about trying for the 2nd time in 2 years to read book 1 in a series that I won from an author who is besties with one of my favorite authors. I was so disappointed with myself that I just couldn’t connect to her storytelling style. This author was also generous and had surprised me with her paranormal series when I won her new adult series that I realized yesterday I just couldn’t read 100%. I got half way through 17 hours of the audiobook format which was much further than the 14% I had read via e-book and put down in 2015. Needless to say, the other books I own by this author will never get read. My roommate reminded me that life was too short to keep trying to read/listen such a long novel. I had to skip to the last chapter of the novel and listen to find out how it ended for the couple I wished she had focused on more. O_o

  2. I read Patrica Cornwell’s first book about the Ripper and really wasn’t that impressed and I didn’t think the case was actually all that closed. I don’t think I want to touch this new one.

Please, please tell what the safe word was?

  3. You know, I am still on the fence about Deep End, mostly because I am pretty sure I am not going to like it. It just doesn’t seem like something I will like especially with what I have heard about the heroine.

  4. Sorry these didn’t work out for you. I’m still only on Kristen Ashley’s Fantasyland series. I haven’t started the 4th book yet, because I wasn’t a huge fan of book three. Plus the fourth books is like 20 hours or something. It is hard to get excited about a long book when you were “meh” about the previous one. I will get to it at some point though because I already bought it.
