Read for Review (NetGalley) Overall Rating: 5.00 A Christmas Abduction – Adam Prescott, Baron Thornhill, is on the way to a family Christmas when he is held up and kidnapped by a woman (Caroline) and Jason, a young man who works on her horse farm. Caroline believes he took advantage of her now pregnant sister, Amelia. Snowbound, he realizes she’s had some troubles on the farm and helps her. I enjoyed this very good short story with twists and turns. A Perfect Match – Miss Cassandra Isles is repulsed by the handsome Capt. Lionel Malet who escorts her, and her rich younger cousin, Katherine, to a ball. Malet wants to marry Kitty but she likes their solicitor, Mr. Adams. Cassandra wants to marry for love and doesn’t discuss her money. Looking for her cousin on the terrace she meets Col. Lord Heywood Wolfe. Fearing Malet will kidnap Kitty, Heywood takes the girls to his broken-down estate. Much more going on in this story, but I won’t ruin it! One Wicked Winter Night – Lady Diana Lawrence (30) is the black sheep of her family. She has traveled for more than 7 years after a doomed affair and is currently in […]

Read for Review (NetGalley) Overall Rating: 5.00 This book is wonderful and I’m trying not to spoil anything in this review. Captain Martin Bouchard, former American slave, escaped and eventually met Hugh Redvers who hired and taught him about ships. Martin now uses his ship to rescue Africans on the way to Europe or the United States to be slaves. Sarah Fisher’s parents were English missionaries and she was born in Africa. Due to her parents and many villagers’ deaths, she and the remaining villagers left to find a new home. They were taken and forced on a slave ship. Martin rescued them. Eventually they return to England where Sarah discovers she has relatives and money. Martin doesn’t think he’s good enough for her. It’s a truly wonderful read through the conflicts, love, uncertainty and eventually a HEA! Minerva Spencer is an automatic buy for me. If you haven’t read her you’re missing wonderful stories.

Read for Review (NetGalley) Charles Winston got carried away at the exclusive Vega Club and lost his money and the deed to his home to the Marquess of Westmoreland. It was Westmoreland’s birthday and he and his friends were partying. Later, Westmoreland was on his way to Winston’s estate to return the deed when he was attacked and injured near the estate. Georgiana Lucas is visiting her friend Kitty, Lady Winston, when they learned of what happened. She’s avoiding her brother who wants her to marry his friend. Georgie was out riding when she discovered Westmoreland, and with help, took him to the Winston’s home. Georgie uses another name for him as she thinks he’s come to take their home. When he awakens, he doesn’t know who he is, so she gives him a false name and says she’s his fiancée. In the meantime, his brother has been searching for and finds him. She returns to London and he returns to his father’s estate. He is angry, but his father encourages him to visit her in London. They do have a HEA, but with many other things going on. You’ll enjoy this wonderful book by Caroline Linden!!

Read for Review (Publisher Copy) Overall Rating: 5.00 What a wonderful start to a new series! I loved it. Fletcher Pryde, Duke of Greycourt aka Grey, has learned that his stepfather, the only father he really knew, has died. He travels to Lincolnshire to support his mother, Lydia, half-brother Sheridan and the rest of the family which includes cousins Beatrice Wolfe and her brother Joshua who was injured in war. Sheridan believes his father may have been murdered and wants Grey’s help to solve. To help his mother he agrees to stay at Armitage Hall. She decides he must teach his sister, Lady Gwyn, and Beatrice to dance. Grey thinks Beatrice is hiding something and is determined to find out. He’s particularly wary of Joshua. He falls for her, but won’t marry her or will she change his mind? There is so much going on in this “can’t put it down” book and I won’t spoil it. I appreciate the author’s originality as it’s wonderful to read something different. I can’t wait for the other brothers and sisters to get their HEA! I was given an ARC by the publisher at an author/reader event and no one asked me to […]
