More Information:Which is stronger: blood ties or a battle-tested friendship?
It’s not easy being queen bee of an underworld abuzz with crooks and killers. Wielding my potent Ice and Stone elemental magic will only get me so far—my real secret is my tight-knit makeshift family, a motley crew of cops and criminals, dwarves and playboys. My foster brother Finnegan Lane is my right-hand man, but when his suddenly not-dead relative comes back into the picture, I’m the one on the outside looking in.
It’s funny how life works: one minute your best friend is rock-steady, and the next he’s doe-eyed and buying into this whole loving-relative routine to the point of ignoring you. I’d like to be happy for Finn, I really would. But all of my instincts are telling me that beneath the syrupy sweet demeanor and old-fashioned charm, this sudden interloper is planning something. The whole shtick leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. This person might have avoided the grave once, but I’ll put anyone who hurts Finn in the ground—for good.

First Thought when Finished: Bitter Bite was a Finn-filled story so it goes down as one of my favorites in the series. I LOVE me some FINN!
Quick Thoughts: Way to leave us with more questions Jennifer! I love that this series stays strong by wrapping up some things and hitting us with a right hook. I am possibly more in love with this series as the characters grow and change than I was in the beginning. Finn has had my heart from the beginning. I was very excited to hear that he was the focus of this story even though I knew that meant more Bria too. I will admit she didn’t annoy me this story, makes two in a row. I might have to start liking the gal.

So I really enjoyed Bitter Bite from beginning to end. You have to read just for the entrance into the bank by Swagger Silvio <—yep I nicknamed him!

It’s so good to hear that this series is still going strong, so glad you enjoyed it! I cannot wait to meet Finn too 🙂 Great Review Felicia.
Yes, Yes, and Yes!! So much happened in this one and I love that while this could have been a repeat of the Owen story in so many ways, Jennifer changed it up. I love that she also acknowledges Gin is predictable. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
I might get around to starting this series someday- Finn definitely seems worth it!
I can’t wait for the next book…as always. I have the worst thoughts about Gin’s mom, I can already feel the burn of this twist!
Me too! I am worried and yet I always figured she was probably a little bit of both (I mean look at Bria and Gin) 🙂
So what was the spoiler (I’ve already read it so no spoiler for me)? I couldn’t click on it.
I love this series and I’m so glad you are enjoying it as well. Bria is good people. 😉
Good Grief! You have written all these audio book reviews so fast, you must listen to your books at ultra high speed!
Happy Listening, Felicia!
They were from all of Feb. I have gotten so far behind on posting reviews that I just cleaned out all of the ones from Feb. Most are from the early part of the month LOL
For some reason the publisher has sent me the last two books in this series that I have never read…so I got the first book on audio a few weeks ago and can’t wait to try it, but it’s down on the list a bit…lol.
Listen to them on audio–so good 🙂 These are a good mix of mystery and urban fantasy!
