Date Read: March 2016

Genre: Historical, Romance

Sometimes you find love in the most unexpected of places...

This is not one of those times.
Everyone expects Billie Bridgerton to marry one of the Rokesby brothers. The two families have been neighbors for centuries, and as a child the tomboyish Billie ran wild with Edward and Andrew. Either one would make a perfect husband... someday.

Sometimes you fall in love with exactly the person you think you should...

Or not.
There is only one Rokesby Billie absolutely cannot tolerate, and that is George. He may be the eldest and heir to the earldom, but he's arrogant, annoying, and she's absolutely certain he detests her. Which is perfectly convenient, as she can't stand the sight of him, either.

But sometimes fate has a wicked sense of humor...

Because when Billie and George are quite literally thrown together, a whole new sort of sparks begins to fly. And when these lifelong adversaries finally kiss, they just might discover that the one person they can't abide is the one person they can't live without...

First Thought when Finished: OH MY how I swooned over Billie and George’s romance in Because of Miss Bridgerton!

Quick Thoughts: I flat out loved the start of the Rokesbys series! Billie is exactly the type of leading lady I love in historicals: quirky, different, smart, and strong but socially a bit awkward. George was the perfect match for her in every way! I really liked their slow burn romance but don’t worry there are lots of sparks along the way. If you like smart women and men who often say the wrong thing but mean well–then you will love this. Plus, you don’t have to read the Bridgertons in order to jump right in since this is a prequel. This is a great starting place!

Audio Thoughts

Narrated By Rosalyn Landor / Length: 9 hrs and 25 mins

I freaking loved Rosalyn’s narration of Because of Miss Bridgerton. She brought a lot of personality to all the characters! She made them stand out and I laughed more than once along with them. I highly recommend this on audio.

  1. The first time for Julia Quinn. I heard good things about her and this book is right as what I heard. BTW, so fun and cute πŸ™‚

  2. Billie sounds exactly like the kind of heroine I adore in historicals, Felicia! And George sounds swoonworthy even if he does say the wrong thing at times. πŸ™‚ I’ve not read Quinn before but I’ve been in an HR mood lately. Think I’ll have to check her out!

  3. This book was on the librarian’s list of most eager to read; I’ve been wondering if it would meet their anticipation hype. I was telling a friend who reads a lot of regency romance about this one, so I’m happy it actually does meet the expectations. πŸ™‚

  4. I love the Bridgerton series and so happy to hear this is great on audio. And Rosalyn Landor does a great job of all those historicals she reads. Gone into my wish list at Audible. Thanks for the prod.
