Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person by Shonda Rhimes
Length: 7 hrs and 4 mins
Date Read: April 2016

More Information:The mega-talented creator of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal and executive producer of How to Get Away With Murder chronicles how saying YES for one year changed her life―and how it can change yours, too.
With three hit shows on television and three children at home, the uber-talented Shonda Rhimes had lots of good reasons to say NO when an unexpected invitation arrived. Hollywood party? No. Speaking engagement? No. Media appearances? No.
And there was the side benefit of saying No for an introvert like Shonda: nothing new to fear.
Then Shonda’s sister laid down a challenge: just for one year, try to say YES to the unexpected invitations that come your way. Shonda reluctantly agreed―and the result was nothing short of transformative. In Year of Yes, Shonda Rhimes chronicles the powerful impact saying Yes had on every aspect of her life―and how we can all change our lives with one little word. Yes.

Tweet Length Review:I am pretty sure @shondarhimes could be my spirit animal. She is witty, brilliant, bold, and messy. Plus, wine is sometimes more important!
Audio Thoughts: No one else could have narrated this like Shonda!

I meant to read this, and have it somewhere on my Kindle, but I definitely want to listen to the audiobook version now! I love the concept of this book (I come across as an extrovert, but that’s only when I’m comfortable- the older I get the more I tend to be introverted, I just try to embrace both sides of my personality).
This sounds inspirational, Felicia, to a person who says ‘no’ as much as possible. LOL I don’t think I’d take the challenge of saying ‘yes’ for a year but I’m guessing the results were worth it. 😀 I’ll have to see if my library has this one!
I would cower in a corner I think. Just the idea of starting a new job makes me shake. I wonder if I could find a way to afford to do odd jobs from home or not work at all. What if I hate everyone? I know I’ve missed out on some great things, but… I know, I know.
I saw an interview with her for this book and I’ve been wanting to read it.

I am not surprised. She wrote and created amazing TV series so it only follows that this book would reflect her wit. Thanks for the feedback, I’d like to read this at some point 🙂
year of yes…i am too much of a pessimist for that
