#FitReaders: Weekly Check-in Feb 6 2015
#FitReaders hosted by Geeky Bloggers Book BlogΒ and Thatβs What Iβm Talking About.
Hey FitReaders! It is time for your weekly check-in (feel free to use whatever day you want to check-in–these posts will be going up on Fridays)! How are you doing this week? Did you get a day, 2 days, 3 days of exercise? Are you on track with your other health goals! I am so very proud of you for making the effort to get heart healthy and putting exercise in your life. We can do it!
This week I had a minor setback and a equal up. I strained something in my back last Saturday. I was going about my day as usual and felt something “tweak” (for lack of a better word) and by Saturday night I was pretty sure that my back hated me. It was a little better Sunday but not great. I went to see the chiropractor on Monday and she asked me to give it 2 weeks of light walking. To lower my steps (4000 to 6000) and to spread them out in 5 to 10 min increments. So I am doing that now and it really is starting to feel better. I will be on my feet all day Saturday though and that should be interesting. I asked about that and she said it should be fine as long as I stretch and rest as much as possible.
So Step Totals:
- Thursday: 9554
- Friday: 8010
- Saturday: 4494
- Sunday: 4674
- Monday: 8459 (book club night–this wasn’t bright)
- Tuesday: 6560
- Wednesday: 5436
So remember me saying I had gained in Jan even though I stayed in plan calories (aka enough to lose 2 pounds a month). I actually gained 3lbs (I started Jan at 201.6 and ended at 204.1). Well I weighed in today and I was back to 201.6. That was after I quit tracking calories for those days (what can I say I was little disheartened). I called my old OBGYN (she is now a holistic therapist) and she gave me some hormone friendly eating plans that don’t require counting. I will still put it in lose-it but only at the end of the day when I am done. I am going to try it the month of Feb and see if it works better for me π
So how was your week?

This week I did manage to squeeze in walking one mile on Monday, and one mile on Tuesday. I had some back trouble recently too…. Not fun at all π
I hope the rest helps your back. Back pain took me out for most of 2014 and I’m just now getting back up to speed. Even so I still need to take it easy sometimes.
Hope you feel better soon, back pain is a horrible thing. I had a good walking week managing 18.5km against my target of 15k, but I’m mostly working from home this week so will have to make myself include walking in my daily routine when I don’t actually have to go out π
Hope your back is feeling better! It’s no fun to be limited by back pain.
This week was great! I made my step goal every day, and Monday I blew all of my daily goals out of the water thanks to the BodyCombat class I took at the gym. Woohoo! Although I was S-O-R-E, especially on Wednesday. It hurt to so much as sneeze LOL But I’m going again tomorrow because man, that class is fun. I helped my Mom get steps in yesterday, since we were out shopping, so that was fun π Today ended up being a rest day (IE- the day I don’t care if I make my step goal).
Well done to everyone for all you were able to accomplish this week! Here’s to another week of kicking butt and taking names π
I hope you are feeling better now. I hurt my back in the similar way (just walking, felt a pinch and I was in pain with every movement) so I know how you feel. It makes doing everyday simple tasks difficult and painful. I hope your back pain didn’t ruin Comic Con. I love your pictures! I’m doing better and getting motivation from everyone’s post. Take it easy and hope you have a good week!
Yikes! Back pain is no joke! Take it easy.
Hope your back is starting to feel better Felicia. Good luck with your new eating plan in Feb, tweaking or changing things up is a good thing π
I hope your back is feeling better! I tweaked something in mine this past week so I’ve been trying to take it easy and it’s finally starting to feel a bit better.
Hope you’re back is feeling better…good advice from your doctor to ease up and make sure to stretch and do small increments of exercise at a time. I ended up with a crazy virus Thursday night, so took it easy yesterday – basically just took dogs out and just layed on couch all day. Feeling better today, but plan to take it easy this week so I’m good to go on Monday. Have a great week!
Weekly check-in.
First, i have been really bad at these so I promise to get better.
My week started off good. I walked 2 days then work happened, I stressed out and lost focus in a bad way. But I have pulled myself back together by the end of the week. Even planning an extra walk for today.
I am late…again. But I had a giveaway to post. π Also, I am on a roadtrip.
I am checking in for the week π
Sorry to hear about the back pain and hope you feel ok after being on your feet most of today. Have a good week!
You probably already know this, but the average person fluctuates between 3-7lbs. All the time. No matter what you eat or don’t eat (b/c water weight, hormones, digestion, etc.). PLUS muscle weighs more than fat, and as much as you’re walking . . . the point I’m trying to make is that you shouldn’t be disheartened by the appearance of weight gain in the face of your hard work. I know that in practice that’s a lot harder to manage. ALSO, the more muscle mass you have, the more efficiently you burn fat. Have you considered some light weight lifting?
I hope your back gets better with some light walking and that your new eating plan works better for you. You did really well despite some setbacks this week! I’m sure next week will be even better (:
Awe, I hope you are feeling better physically. My husband did something to his knee just walking . Aging sucks, I hope it starts feeling well, and I hope the new intake plan works.
Hormone friendly diet sounds hopeful, Counting calories is painful for me too.
Hanging in there this week.
Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear about your back; take it easy, and I hope it gets better soon!
Counting calories can be a good thing, but sometimes it can do the opposite of what we hope. You’ll have to let us know how your new plan goes next month. π
OWWW! A hurt back is the WORST! If it still hurts, you should lay on a heating pad at night. I love those little stinkers.
Ouch, backaches are awful. It feels like every move you make is somehow attached to back muscles! Take it easy — here’s to a speedy recovery!
Oh no, I hope back feels better Felicia! I’ve tweaked my back once before and it was absolutely no fun at all. I wanted to curl into a fetal ball, but that position hurt too much:) Take it easy tomorrow!
I hope your back is better soon. Injuries can suck the life out of you. Hopefully your diet change will help. Iread an article on plateau weight yesterday. I will find it and send it to you.
Finally got my fitbit charge and recorded 78k steps for for t he last week. Yesterday was huge running victory! I completed all of my intervals on my training plan. Normally I end up walking the last one. I am also not letting t he cold stop me.
Whole 30 is one more week. This has been a great change for me. I feel that I have much more energy and better moods. Weight has maintained and body fat is dropping as well. I fully plan on continuing this eating after 30 days.
I got to teach scuba for the first time this weekend. It went petty well, much better than the classroom attempt. I was in 50 degree water all weekend.
Glad your back is starting to feel better. I know how that hurt, I’ve been there too. I’m healthy and back to increasing my steps, but my eating habits have been bad, so I haven’t lost any weight. I’ll have to start remedy that next week.
Felicia, I hope your back feels better soon. It’s tough when you get on a roll with your fitness, your body wants to betray you. Not a good week for me but back on starting today. Have a good week.
I hope your back is feeling better soon and that you cope ok on Saturday.
I reached my goal of 8000-10000 steps, yay. But that was thanks largely to my kids going back to school and all the running around that is associated with that for the first week or so. I’m sure I’ll have to work for those steps once things settle down.
OUCH! I\’m glad you\’re doing better, though! I was terrible about working out today, thanks to my awful headache. I just wasn\’t feelin\’ it. I did manage to get in thirty squats and thirty calf-raises. That was good enough for today. I\’m at 115, so I don\’t feel **too** bad about slacking off today! haha
