Weekly Book Travel Plans (4/16 to 4/22)

Howdy Y’all!  It is exactly 6 days till Dewey’s Read-a-Thon–YIPPEE!  This is the first time that I have been off for the day before so I can prep accordingly.  My start time will be 7am CST on 4/21 going to 7am CST 4/22.  I plan on donating to charity again for every book ($1), every comment (25 cents), and every hour read ($2).  So I plan on being nose to book for most of the 24 hours and if you want to help out http://www.literacytexas.org/ all you have to do is comment this entire week!  Every comment will be worth 25 cents :) I made sure to schedule 2 posts a day all this week so that is a LOT of opportunities to help out :)

Here are some of the books I will be choosing from (I know to allow myself some leniency during read-a-thons—if I don’t feel it then it gets pushed aside)!:

I also have the following titles on my kindle for options:

The Kingdom and The Prophet by Amanda Stevens
North of Need (Hearts of the Anemoi, #1) by Laura Kaye
Victims by Jonathan Kellerman
The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

On the Agenda the rest of the week around here:

Monday Morning: Weekly Book Travel Plans
Monday Afternoon:Review of This Pen For Hire (A Jaine Austen Mystery, #1) by Laura Levine
Tuesday Morning: Top Off Tuesdays
Tuesday Afternoon: Review of Crazy on You by Rachel Gibson
Wednesday Morning: My Book Boyfriend (I have one this week)
Wednesday Afternoon: Review of Gypped (Audiobook) by Carol Higgins Clark
Thursday Morning: Open for now
Thursday Afternoon: Review of Stolen Prey by John Sandford
Friday Morning: Blogger Confession: I take weekends off
Friday Afternoon: Review of Hot Under Pressure by Louisa Edwards

I normally take weekends off but as noted above Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-Thon is this weekend so I will be around on Saturday :)

i've read bloom and before the poison and enjoyed both! i hope you'll enjoy them too and good luck with the readathon. i'm headed to san antonio this weekend so i won't be able to participate.

This is the first I’ve heard of this Read-a-thon. Hmmm…You have a rocking bunch of books set aside. Briggs is fabulous, but it take me a bit to get into the first one. I’m dying for my library to get the audiobook of Deadline. *tick tock* But what I am most covetous of his Sacre Bleu. Love Christopher Moore. I almost picked up Lamb to read right before Easter. I need a little creative use of language, maybe during TAKS test week.

Dewey's is great!  It is an intense 24 hours but it is so much fun!

I will get at least one of the Briggs done!  I loved Cry Wolf :)

  3. Yay!  I'm so excited.  Your list looks fun.  This is going to be the best one yet.  I'm not going to be near my bookshelf since I'm going to visit my mom and participate with her.  I'm thinking I need to grab some extras off my shelf just in case.

I'm just realizing that your feed wasn't updating in my reader but I've updated it now.  I almost missed out.

    • thegeekyblogger says:

I think it is going to be blast!  We are all going to have to keep each other up LOL

Take some extras just in case what you are reading doesn't strike your fancy :)

  4. Ah!  This sounds fun!  And you have AWESOME books to choose from.  I read Sadie Walker is Stranded not too long ago, so I'd love to read Alison Hewtitt – yeah, I'm going backwards.

P.S. The blog looks GREAT!!  I can't wait to move.

  5. Blodeuedd says:

Oh it's coming up? Well one day perhaps. It just sucks since it's like 3 pm here when it starts

  6. Melissa says:

Oh I love those books you have listed there. Many of them I do need to read. I can't believe you didn't buy any books? Not even free ones? For shame! ;)

    • thegeekyblogger says:

I didn't—can you believe that.  I am in a buying funk because I had to buy a new AC unit ($3700)—that kind of kabashes everything else :)

  7. Ruby says:

I suggest you gently push all those zombie books aside and dig into the Mercy Thompson series. My dad and I have read both–his favorite is the Alpha and Omega books because he thinks they're lighter on the romance than the Mercy books–and I like the Mercy books because I'm crazy about the lady. And Adam. Swoon. On the other hand, the A&O books have more Brynn (spelling?).

I'll be cheering you on and leaving lots of comments. Because, you know…if it's for charity…

    • thegeekyblogger says:

YEAH!  Cost me money for a good cause—I SUPPORT THAT!

I loved Cry Wolf so I want to try the Mercy Series! :)

  8. Heidi says:

That sounds like fun reading all day, Sigh won't happen for me with two toddlers, too demanding. I will live through you viscariously. Such a great cause too. I will help out and leave lots of comments. Such a stack to chose from. Maja at The Nocturnal Library, she is a wonderful blogger, highly recommends Mira Grant. I would say, read The Kingdom! I also want to read the Jesse Peterson books but I know I will be reading the Married with zombies on the June read along. Have a great week, Fellcia!

    • thegeekyblogger says:

LOL I only have 2 furrballs and I can bribe them with chew sticks :)

I would appreciate the comments–this is incentive for me to do well.  I am excited about getting to the Mira Grant books :)

  9. Aurian says:

Wow, you sure have planned a lot! Hope you will enjoy all those books. I once read a Laura Levine anthology, and really disliked the writing style and the main character. She kept eating and drinking and lamenting that she did that.

    • thegeekyblogger says:

I am working on making the comment button bigger :)  Hopefully I can figure that out LOL

Those are maybe's for the read-a-thon but I wanted to give me mood inner reading witch a lot of choices !!!!

      :)

  10. erinf1 says:

Awesome! I wish you luck and happy reading!!! You have the trifeca of Zombie awesomeness right there… World War Z blew me away and I'm praying that they don't screw it up as they are making a Brad Pitt starring movie. I'm a die hard Mira Grant/Seanan McGuire fan and Feed is an refreshingly original twist on zombies. Eat, Slay, Love by Jesse Petersen is also laugh out loud funny zombies. So… can you tell what books I'm recommending? lol… :)

    • thegeekyblogger says:

Let me guess—-I am going to go with Zombies though I may be wrong :)

I loved the first in the Jesse Petersen series.  World War Z has been on my list for awhile but I just got the book.  Feed I have started but had to put aside for some "promised things".  I am excited to get back to it :)

PS It is probably the zombies that will win this weekend LOL

  11. Jenny says:

Wow, that's quite a stack Felicia! I've only read the Mercy Thompson books out of all of those, but I adore that series. Mercy and Adam just make me happy:) Can't wait to see how many books you get read!

    • thegeekyblogger says:

The first one really is probably one of the first ones I will read :)  :) :)

I had to give myself options because towards the end it is hard for me to stay focused.

  12. Bookbrunette says:

You are going to KICK BUTT!!! I remember the Dewey read-a-thon from when I had JUST started blogging last year!!! LOL

    • thegeekyblogger says:

I should have this down to a science now as it is my 3rd one reading LOL

However, I am hoping comments will make up for what I lack in stay-up-ability :) :) :)

  13. Lee says:

This is awesome!  I will make comments all week and cheer you on.  What a stack of books.  I vote for the Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson books – start with those!

    • thegeekyblogger says:

They are high on my list after reading Cry Wolf :)

Thank you!  I am excited to give back to literacy!  Reading is so important I think!

  14. Amanda says:

I will be around to cheer you on! :)

    • thegeekyblogger says:

I will be doing this for Bout of Books too :)

Oh I will have a Guest Post to you by the end of the day!  It turned into a mini-novel so I am trying to cut it down a bit LOL
