New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery welcomes readers back to Fool's Gold, where a one-time fling could become the real thing...

Felicia Swift never dreamed she'd hear a deep, sexy voice from her past in tiny Fool's Gold, California. The last time Gideon Boylan whispered in her ear was half a world away...on the morning after the hottest night of her life. Her freaky smarts have limited her close friendships, and romance, but she came to Fool's Gold looking for ordinary. Gorgeous, brooding Gideon is anything but that.

Black Ops taught Gideon that love could be deadly. Now he pretends to fit in while keeping everyone at arm's length. Felicia wants more than he can give-a home, family, love-but she has a lot to learn about men...and Gideon needs to be the man to teach her.

As these two misfits discover that passion isn't the only thing they have in common, they just might figure out that two of a kind should never be split apart

Overall Rating: 5.00
Story Rating: 5.00
Character Rating: 5+

Audio Rating: 4.00 (not part of the overall rating)

First Thought when Finished: Two of a kind is my favorite Fool’s Gold book to date! I swear it isn’t just because the lead character is named Felicia!

Story Thoughts: Two of a Kind just hit all the right contemporary romance spots for me: fun, sweet, quirky, original, and emotionally stunning. Felicia and Gideon’s love story was the kind of bumpy ride that I enjoy reading about. I adored all the twists/turns and seeing two people clearly made for each other both realize it. I also enjoyed connecting with the other Fool’s Gold peeps and meeting some new people. Really excited about the stories coming up in this series.

Character Thoughts: I loved Felicia when we met her Three Little Words. She was such a unique character that just stood out whenever she was on the page. Felicia has quirks! I love the quirks! I love how smart she is, how direct she is, and how clueless she is. All of these just make me smile. Gideon is a great counter to Felicia. Socially he has it more together but because of his PTSD issues, he needs someone just like Felicia. They are fantastic together. Just need to add, I think I am going to love the Sports people coming into town. I loved the lady that we met in the shop scene!

Audio Thought:

Narrated By Tanya Eby / Length: 9 hrs and 10 mins

Tanya does a great job with the Fool’s Gold ladies. She makes each of them unique and has the tempo of this series down to a science. I can’t imagine anyone but her narrating these stories.

Final Thoughts: Next up is Christmas on 4th Street a novella. I am excited about Noelle’s story (I need to know her secret).

Love that susan makes her heroines more than just a pretty face. Two of a kind is one of my favorites of the series yet.

It’s a another summer hit that sizzles by Susan Mallery!

Wow, talk about having a wonderful summer! Susan Mallery does it again with Three Little Words. How could you not love Ford Hendrix and Isabel Beebe? They have to be some of her best characters yet. Isabel was in love with Ford when she was just 14 years old and he was engaged to her sister. After things fell through with Isabel’s sister Ford leaves Fool’s Gold for the Navy and doesn’t return till many years later. You could say fate has brought them back into town at the same time and allows Isabel her chance at her first and only love. This book also gives you the story about Consuelo and Kent Hendrix with their story. What a wonderful book and a great way to end the summer!

Two of A Kind is my favorite FG book of all! I’m giddy for Gideon! Felicia is so one of a kind and I love her. The trilogy this year has been the best of the series. If you haven’t tried this series yet, you are missing out.

  4. I love this series and just when I think I’ve read the best another one comes out and it’s even better. If anybody needs a $1 coupon off Three Little Words paperback (out today), let me know.

  5. so glad you liked the book! It is a different type of story that she hasn’t done before in regards to him being kept prisoner! Would love to hear what you think of her Three Little Words book when it comes out!

Once again I am in love with Fools Gold. Susan has an awesome gift! With each story she builds the community while keeping the story unique. I love Gideon and Felicia. If I’m completely honest mostly Felicia, she is so painfully honest I adore her. My favorite to date.

  8. Hi! Susan’s assistant here. πŸ™‚ Thanks for the great review. I’m going to post a blurb on Susan’s website this morning. Just so you know, CHRISTMAS ON 4TH STREET is a full-length novel, 336 pages long. It’ll be out in gift-sized hardcover on September 24. (And I must say, its’ really heartwarming and wonderful!)

  9. It is always strange reading a book where the heroine has your own name, I am glad you liked this one! Someday, I will be reading this series …

  10. I’m jumping on this book like now. It’s Fools Gold and you gave it a five. Wow. I’m so behind in this series, but can give you a heads up. The novella is on netGalley already if you want that badly. I know about the audio preference, but’s it’s a thought.

  11. I love it when a character has your name AND you love her! πŸ™‚ I hate it when she is evil and has the same name (I’ve had that happen more than once and I protest! LOL). This sounds so good and I swear I’m going to get into these someday!

  12. Oh! five stars! I know you love this series, I think I just got a Christmas book in this series and I am looking forward to it. I totally will need some light and sweet after Apocalypse!

  13. Freaking 5s all the way around!! You are killing me Felicia. But Mallery, I refuse to get sucked into your world till I’m caught up with Shalvis & Stacey.
