Something big is brewing in Trenton, N.J., and it could blow at any minute.

Stephanie Plum might not be the world's greatest bounty hunter, but she knows when she's being played. Ken Globovic (aka Gobbles), hailed as the Supreme Exalted Zookeeper of the animal house known as Zeta fraternity, has been arrested for beating up the dean of students at Kiltman College. Gobbles has missed his court date and gone into hiding. People have seen him on campus, but no one will talk. Things just aren't adding up, and Stephanie can't shake the feeling that something funny is going on at the college - and it's not just Zeta fraternity pranks.

As much as people love Gobbles, they hate Doug Linken. When Linken is gunned down in his backyard it's good riddance, and the list of possible murder suspects is long. The only people who care about finding Linken's killer are Trenton cop Joe Morelli, who has been assigned the case, security expert Ranger, who was hired to protect Linken, and Stephanie, who has her eye on a cash prize and hopefully has some tricks up her sleeve.

First Thought when Finished: Lots of Lulu so Tricky Twenty-Two was downright fun!

Quick Thoughts: I seriously keep these for when I need something fun, light, quick, and predictable to read. The mysteries are usually pretty solid and the hijinks are ones that will make you smile. I think the end of the book might have brought the back and forth of the Morelli/Ranger/Steph triangle to an end but alas this is Steph so who knows. Only warning with this book, if you have a flea phobia it might not be the book for you LOL 🙂

NOTE: I do not read these in order so I don’t think you have too! I just kind of pick them up as my library has the audio available. Each case stands alone!

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Lorelei King / Length: 6 hrs and 27 mins

I love Lorelei’s take on Stephanie and especially Lulu & Grandma. Even her “babe” as Ranger is pretty darn good. These are fun on audio. She brings the snark and sass full-time! Which with these characters is just what you need!

Part of my read it, rate it, file it, done! reviews

  1. Interesting – I’ve never done the audio version of any Stephanie pLum. Another fab book! It would be great if you added your review to the Books You Loved: April collection over at Carole’s Chatter. Cheers

  2. This is a go to series when I need a laugh. And though I recently changed over to audio, it still continues to make me laugh. I wish the movie had done better, because I would have loved seeing Stephanie on the big screen.

  3. I read this one recently and really enjoyed it too! There were some rough patches several books back when the love triangle got to be so ridiculous that I almost quit the series, but the last few have recaptured the magic and the fun of Stephanie Plum!

  4. My neighbor sold her collection until book 20 with maybe 3 or 4 books missing. I bought everything she has for under 10 bucks! I need to work on it for sure, but right now it’s sitting pretty on my shelf

I’ve kind of fallen off the wagon on this series. I just got tired of the Joe/Ranger business. I think I’ve read through 18 or 19, but I love, love, love listening to them. Lorelei King is genius. I requested it just now after reading your review.

  6. YEAH FOR MORE LULU!!! She’s always the highlight of this series for me. I’ve taken a break from these books because the triangle was driving me batty – JUST MAKE A DECISION ALREADY – but I love the humor and craziness so much:)

  7. I am such a Plum fan. I stopped at nineteen, but continue to buy the books at some point. I still have to get twenty-one and twenty-two (I have twenty). I think the series has run its course, but I just can’t stop, even it becomes repetitive. I’m such a Moretti and Stefanie fan!

  8. This is a series I have long wanted to try because I need more light and funny. I am glad to know I can pick it up in any old order, but I am irritated by the love triangle.

  9. I still need to try this series, I have book one and I loved the movie based on it so I figure I will love the book more. 🙂
