Every once in a while there are covers that just make you say Oh My!  Sometimes it is good, sometimes it is bad, and sometimes it is head scratching. The point of Top Off Tuesday is to show you the ones with their Tops Off!  Seriously y’all hunting out Top Off Tuesday covers is one of my favorite pastimes and you should join the fun!

I am still in Novella month!  I do appreciate when an author/publisher/ect put in the time to make a novella’s cover stand out.  This week I picked Fatal Heat: A Navy Seal Novella by Lisa Marie Rice and it looks like a really good read!  Who doesn’t love a man in (or out of) uniform!

Top Off Tuesday: Fatal Heat: A Navy SEAL Novella by Lisa Marie RiceFormer Navy SEAL Max Wright is out of the SEAL Teams forever after being almost killed by an Afghani RPG. He retreats to his former XO’s beach house to lick his wounds. He wants to snarl at the world but finds it hard to snarl at his new neighbor, his XO’s beautiful goddaughter, Paige Waring, who also comes with a ridiculously likable, totally undisciplined dog.

As a plant geneticist, Paige has always been focused on her work, but when she and her dog run into Max, she recognizes the lonely, shattered man behind the rugged exterior. To her mind, sexiness always comes with a white lab coat, not with acres of tanned muscle and a tough mind-set.

When Paige’s work becomes the target of criminals and sheÂ’s abducted, Max springs into action. Though still terribly wounded, this tough as nails SEAL goes on his last mission—stopping at nothing to save the woman he loves.

I missed this yesterday, crazy day! Risa turned four! This is a good one! Nice and clean, no veins or skanky hands, sexy scruff and those dog tags! Delish!

  2. I have to admit I do like that man in uniform without the shirt!

  3. Oh 1 1/2 nips! Woo!

Still… that darn writing. What? There is a story too? WIN! ;D

  4. hey, man nipple is back! This cover looks nice though, and I agree, I like it when time and effort payoff for novella’s. Covers really do make a difference…

Covers make all the difference in the world –especially if I have never read an author. I just feel like you can gauge “level of effort” based on a cover. If they care enough for a good cover then they probably cared enough for everything else (editing, formatting, content)

  5. Amanda says:

A little scruff, a couple nips… nice choice, Felicia. :)

  6. Jenny says:

Confession: I have been on a MASSIVE Navy SEAL kick lately. I can’t get enough of them. I’ve been obsessed with that show Stars Earn Stripes and have been drooling over the real-life operatives on it, and as a result, have been devouring every military-related romance or romantic suspense story I can find. Win. I’m thinking the above is a must read!

  7. Kelly says:

A little nip and dog tag action. I approve!

  8. Christi Snow says:

mmm, I like your choice. The story sounds good too!!
