Once again, author Tilly Bagshawe takes up the mantle of the late, great Sidney Sheldon–and again, she succeeds magnificently. Written in the inimitable Sheldon style and based on extensive, never before published material from his private archives, Sidney Sheldon’s Angel of the Dark is a thrilling tale of murder, lies, and lust that the master storyteller–the bestselling author of Master of the Game, The Other Side of Midnight, and so many other beloved classics–would have been proud to have called his own. With Sidney Sheldon’s Angel of the Dark, a gripping, stylish, sexy and surprising story of a son’s globe-hopping hunt for answers about his wealthy father’s brutal death, confirmed Sheldon fans have good reason to rejoice. The legacy truly lives on.

A little different break down than I normally do. I am a total “ender” aka the end of the book can make me look at the whole book differently. I think that should be noted and I want to be fair.
First 3/4 of the Story:
Overall Rating: 4.00
Thriller Rating: 4.50
Character Rating: 3.50
Last 1/4 of the Story:
Overall Rating: 1.75
Thriller Rating: 2.00
Character Rating: 1.50
First Thought when finished: Can we rewind a few chapters and just end there, please?
What I Loved: The first 3/4 of Angel of the Dark was amazing from a twisty thriller POV! The story had you on your toes and even though you could guess who all was involved–the art of the police figuring it out was brilliantly done. I really enjoyed and pretty much devoured the story in an afternoon–it pulled me in that much!
What I Liked: The characters were complex and added to the story. In thrillers, I don’t need to connect to them in order for a story to work for me and that was what happened in this case. I “liked” most of the characters (good and bad) and they were well written. The personal side of the story added to the case.
What made me go huh?: I didn’t like the end at all. I can’t be more specific (don’t want to give stuff away) BUT it kind of ruined the story for me. Luckily, this happened after everything was figured out so it did not ruin the thriller part for me.
Final Thought: I imagine this story will work better for other people better than it did for me.

I didn’t hear of these books. I think I devoured every Sidney Sheldon book when I was younger. I just adored his books and I loved reading about him too. I might check this one out, just to see if it has the same feel.
Can someone please tell me who killed Carlos in the end? Its really confusing for me..
Oh my gosh, I want to run to the bookstore so I can grab this book read the last couple of chapters. Lol. My curiosity is sooo bad π
If you decide to do that let me know so I can set up a little background for you….seriously I have had only one other book’s end change the rating so much for me.
Oh this does not sound good. I really hate crappy endings even more than cliffies. I’m glad the thriller part still worked for you though.
This is not one that I would recommend to my non-thriller reading friends. I wouldn’t want the end to turn them off of thrillers!
Noooo, not a book where the end ruins the story for me!
Yep! I hate when those endings happen too! Especially when the rest of the book was so good!
I don’t blame you, I too, get frustrated by crappy endings. I don’t know what is worse, cliffhangers, bad endings or open endings….It is a disappointment for sure that this was so good up until the end.
Crappy Endings LOL I can handle cliff hangers (unless it is years till the next book comes out). Open endings equal crappy endings to me so they are one in the same π
