Ex-Navy SEAL Rock Babineaux’s job is to get information, and he’s one of the best in the business. Until something goes horribly wrong and he’s being hunted by his own government. Even his best friends at the covert special-ops organization Black Knights Inc. aren’t sure they can trust him. He thinks he can outrun them all, but his former partner—a curvy bombshell who knows just how to drive him wild—refuses to cut him loose.
She Won't Back Down
Vanessa Cordova hasn’t been the team’s communication specialistvery long, but she knows how to read people—no way is Rock guilty of murder. And she’ll go to hell and back to help him prove it. Sure, the sexy Cajun has his secrets, but there’s no one in the world she’d rather have by her side in a tight spot. Which is good, because they’re about to get very tight…

Narration Rating: 2.50 (not part of the overall rating)
Quick Thoughts: This is another reread for me and I love Rock/Van! Vanessa had gumption and even though she was frustrating for a bit–I think it was true to character. Rock was every bit the stubborn Cajun he is supposed to be. I would have been disappointed had this played out any other way. I think the back stories on both of these characters really played into their romance (and stumbles) but in the end it was Vanessa’s sheer willpower that made me believe she would be there when he got his stuff together. Their chemistry was off the charts so it was only a matter of time.
Narrated By Abby Craden / Length: 9 hrs and 49 mins
I knew this one might not work on audio for me. Rock is a gruff Cajun with that slow Louisiana way of speaking. Honestly, I don’t think a female narrator was the right choice for this particular one. She nailed Vanessa and all the other Black Knights. This just wasn’t a hit for me. However, the first 3 she did really really well!
