Already addicted to the pharmaceutical drug that keeps her body from decomposing, Bryn has to stop a secretive group of rich and powerful investors from eliminating the existing Returné addicts altogether. To ensure their plan to launch a new, military-grade strain of nanotech, the investors’ undead assassin—who just happens to be the ex-wife of Bryn’s lover Patrick—is on the hunt for anyone that stands in their way.

And while Bryn’s allies aren’t about to go down without a fight, the secret she’s been keeping threatens to put those closest to her in even more danger. Poised to become a monster that her own side—and her own lover—will have to trap and kill, Bryn needs to find the cure to have any hope of preserving the lives of her friends, and her own dwindling humanity…

First Thought when Finished: Terminated ended in a way that wrapped up the trilogy in the most perfect of ways! BRAVO! (Also there was a moment there that I was bit scared).

Overall Thoughts: YES YES YES! This is the way a series should end! There were tears, laughter, OMG moments, and “is she really going to do that? Say she isn’t going to do that” moments. I can’t really talk about the book without giving anything away so here is what you need to know before reading:

1)Do not read these out of order. There are only 3 so do yourself a favor and read the whole series.
2)You will need MULTIPLE Kleenexes unless you have a heart made of stone.
3)The end will surprise you. I don’t mind spoilers but try to read this one spoiler free.
4)Read even if you don’t like zombies. This isn’t a true zombie book but more like what the series title says: Revivalist (people who have been revived after death).

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated by Julia Whelan /Length 9 hrs and 52 mins

I sound like a broken record but Julia really did nail this narration. She was the Revivalist crew. You would not go wrong listening to these on audiobook.

Final Thought: Hands down my favorite series (so far) by Rachel Caine.

  1. Definitely agree that this is how a series should end (and NO DEAD DOGS!! I would have thrown the book across the room and into the fire if they’d killed off those precious pups. I’d grown attached). Love Rachel Caine. Love how she’s willing to take chances with her characters, put them through utter hell and have them come out better people.

    • Oh I would have gone over to her house if she would have done in the dogs! Actually, Rachel wouldn’t do that but I was iffy there for a moment LOL. Actually that made me grin when they took time to put them in boarding. That is something I would have done!

  2. As if I wasn’t already excited to read this series… Where am I going to squeeze all these awesome reads into my schedule!!!

Short, sweet and spoiler free! I have often battled to write sequel reviews without a spoiler from the current book or previous book. It is tough especially when you get to book 3 and above.

    • Yes! This is a series that I think

      a) you would love on audio
      b) should be squeezed in (though I understand easier said than done)
      c) is one that has a solid beginning, middle, and end!

I gave up on not trying to post spoilers so now I just kind of say why I would read the series LOL

  3. Now that Morganville is done with I should check out this series! Especially now that i know it ends with a bang. Ooh and Julia Whelan is the narrator- excellent!

  4. Babe can you believe I have yet to read Rachel Caine and heard so many good things about her writing style and story telling. Great review. I love it when a series ends and it is a 4 or 5 star read.

P.S. I have been to tell you I love how you give your reviews.

    • WHAT? You must read Rachel! She is an excellent writer. Actually though, I understand–there is not enough time in the day for all the writers I want to try!

  5. Okay, so I’m totally interested in this series when you told me to get the tissues. Never would have thought based on the summary and past books of this genre I’ve read. So intrigued! Thanks!

    • She manages to mix the action with the emotional very well. The first book is mostly action but both the 2nd and 3rd books have moments that will make you grab a hankie!
