Sacred Evil and The Evil Inside by Heather Graham
Narrated by Luke Daniels

Sacred Evil:

Read for Fun
Overall Rating 4.00
Story Rating 3.75
Character Rating 4.25

Audio Rating: 4.50 (not part of the overall rating)

First Thought When Finished: I am really enjoying the Krewe of Hunters!

What I Loved: The Team! I know each of them so well by now that it is always a joy when I hit half way through the book and they all show up! I wait for the moments where they are talking, working out the case, and in general offering support to each other. It seems silly but the team work is just part of what makes them shine! I love when authors can make you fall in love with the friends not just the romances in a story.

What I Liked: Whitney and Jude’s romance was sweet and not overwhelming to the story. I would have liked for there to be a little more with the romance but that seems to be secondary in the Krewe stories. I am actually ok with this.

Audio Review: I love Luke Daniels and I think this was the best of audio of the series so far. Now I do recognize that he “reuses” voices from other series that he has narrated but that is only distracting for a few minutes in this entry.

Final Thought: If you like Paranormal Mystery/Thrillers I would say pick up this series.

The Evil Inside:

Read for Fun/Summer Series Read
Overall Rating: 3.50
Story Rating: 3.25
Character Rating: 3.75

Audio Rating (not part of the overall review): 3.50

First thought when finished: Not as good as the others but still entertaining!

What I Loved: The Team once again brought their A Game! By now they are as much family as friends. They truly treat each other with respect and will go out of their way to help each other. I love that with the exception of one couple that the romances have been outside the team. It has really made it possible for the friendships to shine through.

What I liked: Jenna has always been one of my favorite members of the Krewe so it was nice to spend more time with her. Her character has always been the most helpful so it was nice to see her take center stage.

What made me go huh?: It took a long time for me to warm up to Sam though part of that had to do with the narration.

Audio Review: Usually I am a fan of Luke Daniels but he wasn’t great in this book. It might have been because I listened to the Iron Druid series first but Sam sort of sounded like Oberon. That isn’t great when one is a dog and the other is a love interest. So I would say read this one, I ended up doing just that about half way through.

Final Thought: This was probably the weakest of the 4 books but I still enjoyed it!

  1. I keep wanting to get into audiobooks but I’m too impatient with the narrators, who read a lot slower out loud than I can read in my head (of course! der.). Maybe I should try one when I’m on the treadmill, see if it keeps me going longer since I generally stop because I get bored. I do like paranormal mystery/thrillers so maybe I’ll try Heather Graham!

    • I think the key is to try them where you wouldn’t normally be able to read books. Think of it as bonus reading time 🙂 I read the actual book when I can sit down but audiobooks are great fillers for car time, work time, and workout time.
