Audiobook Review: Spider’s Trap by Jennifer EstepSpider's Trap by Jennifer Estep
Length: 10 hrs and 42 mins

Date Read: July 2015

One important lesson I’ve learned in the assassination business is that to be the best you have to roll with the punches. Now that I’m queen of Ashland’s underworld—by default, not by choice—a lot more punches are being thrown my way. But I suppose that’s the price of victory for taking down some of the underworld’s top dogs. Good thing I have my Ice and Stone magic to help me survive my volatile new position. Just when I think things are finally settling down, someone tries to murder me during a hush-hush underworld meeting. But the real surprise is how strangely familiar my shadowy assailant seems to be.

My job is to maintain order among killers, crooks, and thieves, and soon I’m embroiled in a bloody game where the ability to keep secrets could be the greatest superpower of all. My enemies have all sharpened their knives and laid their traps, waiting for me to fall. But this Spider weaves her own webs of death…

First Thought when Finished: I always rate these books based on the big bad and Spider’s Trap by Jennifer Estep did not disappoint!

Overall Thoughts: To be honest, I wasn’t sure that I was going to like Gin in the role as head of the table. I should have never questioned Jennifer’s ability to make that work. Seriously, that whole scenerio made me laugh more in this book than I have the whole series. I am not sure if was Finn, Owen, Phillip, or poor poor poor Silvio that made me laugh the most. I am loving all the connections to the past that this book touched on. Especially one that Gin was directly involved in but could not quite remember (though girl certainly has a faulty memory at times). This was a more emotionally meaty story for me and that worked so well on all levels. Even though it dealt with abuse, I think it showed just how strong a woman can be afterwards. Such an important thing to show. Plus I just love the 2 new women characters. They were FANTASTIC and I hope we see more of them. Not a ton of Bria being whiny so that probably made me like it more. I will get over my dislike of her eventually LOL 🙂

    • I did too. I liked the history and how it all came together. That being said, Gin might want to get some regression therapy seems her past is biting her in the ass a lot lately LOL

  1. I bough the first one in print a long time ago, then the publisher just up and sends me this last So I need to give it a try, but maybe I will try the audio version. 🙂
