They are here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

His name is Ares, and the fate of mankind rests on his powerful shoulders. If he falls to the forces of evil, the world falls too. As one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he is far stronger than any mortal, but even he cannot fight his destiny forever. Not when his own brother plots against him.

Yet there is one last hope. Gifted in a way other humans can't-or won't-understand, Cara Thornhart is the key to both this Horseman's safety and his doom. But involving Cara will prove treacherous, even beyond the maddening, dangerous desire that seizes them the moment they meet. For staving off eternal darkness could have a staggering cost: Cara's life.

Review/Love Letter to: Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance #1) by Larissa Ione

I am going to be doing a love letter series to the Lords of Deliverance series! I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves PNR! This will be every Thursday till I have professed my love for all 4 books.

“She’d read somewhere that normal, healthy men got up to twenty erections a day. Um…yep, Ares was definitely healthy.”― Larissa Ione, Eternal Rider

Love Letter to Ares/War and Cara

Dear Ares: You are what a man of war should be: logical, strategical, and focused. I love that you are loyal, hard-nosed, and clearly in charge of your surroundings. However, it was the second you got knocked on your ass by Cara and your world started spinning that I really fell in love with you! I do like that there was resolution of some of the things from your past. Now I hope you and Cara have a long and animal filled life.

Dear Cara: How can I not want to have girls night out with a girl who loves animals so dearly. I am thinking I need a hellhound except that I am pretty sure my furrbabies would just teach it how to be lazy. I love that you are strong, smart, and mouthy. Thank you for not breaking Ares seal and making the world safe from War. You are the kind of woman who would be an awesome friend. One of my favorite types of leading ladies.

Dear Eternal Rider Story: You were so action packed, thrilling, and good paced. I was impressed with the mythology tweaking. All of the elements (Guardians, Horseman, Watchers) were fascinating and drew me in immediately. I can’t wait to see where we are going next! Just going to say it (don’t get made) but I feel bad for “R/P”. He didn’t want to be what he is!

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated by Hillary Huber / LENGTH 12 hrs and 33 mins

Hillary did a pretty good job! I thought her pacing was excellent and it didn’t take me long to get into the voices at all. The only thing that was a little off-putting was Pest’s voice. It took me forever to get comfortable with it. I switched over to the paper copy at the end but that has nothing to do with the narrations and all about my impatience.

  1. Can’t wait to hear what you thought of Thanatos ;) He is my fave!!! Great idea for a review!! LOVE IT!!!

  2. Mariana says:

I still need to start these series, but your review was so much fun. Just loved the letter.

  3. LOL, I finished the audio last week, and I still need to write up my review. I loved it too though, I love mythology and Aries has always been a favorite character of mine, and I love how Larissa Ione wrote him in this book. Can’t wait to read/listen to the rest of the series. Book Savvy Babe

  4. Your review, that synopsis stayed with me all weekend..i kept seeing the four horseman..so I bought it..not sure when I will fit it in..but I bought it!

  5. Ruby says:

Eternal Rider was definitely awesome, though it’s been a while since I read it. Larissa Ione is definitely one of my favorite authors in terms of alpha heroes.

Which–ack! I need to finish this series. I’ve read the first book and have two copies of book two, but that’s all really an excuse to get to Reseph’s story. I don’t know if I’ve got the willpower to get through those on my way to the last book.

  6. ahhh…you slay me. This is a wonderful fresh way to attack these books and make me want to run out and grab these up.

  7. Karen says:

I’ve never read this series and everyone tells me I must! I’m reading a YA series about the four horsemen of the apocalypse so maybe when I’m done I’ll read the steamy alternative lol

  8. Diana Leigh says:

I’m in love with the love letter review format. Clever!

  9. You know this list is on my want list, right? Love that you got to read them back to back! Oh and Cara… so need to hang with her. I’ve been wanting a hellhound and my pups have been so worried that I’ll get one every time I pick up a book with one!

  10. I loved these Horsemen and their women. I’ve just started the Demonica series and I may have to give this series a re-read when I’m done. Love the ‘Love Letter’ idea. I told you they were worthy ;)

  11. You are NOT helping my book ADD. I wanted to read The Host before the movie release… but now I want to read these :)

    Love this review idea :)

    • Read the Host! As much crap as I give Twilight–I actually enjoyed The Host (the first is really slow but once the story kicks in–it rocks). Plus, I think it should be one that will translate to screen pretty well.

  12. Love your letter I want to get to know them both now and the fact that it is action packed and fast paced sounds delightfully good!

  13. Giddyup! I really enjoyed Immortal Rider, though I did feel like I’d stepped off the deep end, not knowing any of the characters. Maybe I should start again from the beginning, because I loved the writing and the world, and the characters had a lot of spirit.

  14. Lee says:

Such a great idea for a feature! Must read this series!

  15. I started this one on audio the other day but put it down to finish the other audio I was listening to. But I’ll be back on Monday.

    • The Audio was ok. I thought her pacing was good but it wasn’t “pull you in make you want to stay” audio. I saw that you couldn’t get in to it. It would have been interesting whether I would have given up if I wasn’t listening at work (I tend to have more patience with audio at work because I can’t read LOL).

  16. This one has been on my tbr for some time now. Which would you suggest first, Lords of Deliverance or the Darynda Jones series (just brain farted on the leads name in that series…. is it Charley?) They have both been on the list a while and I’m dying to try them!

  17. I really need to get on this. I’ve been putting it off because of my crazy review schedule, plus, single parenting leaves no time for extra’s. So, maybe I should get the audios (side note, the audios for Lords of The Underworld are amazeball!)??? I’ve heard awesome things about this series, and I am always scared of trying something new when it comes to PNR and UF because Showalter and Ward have spoiled me, hard. Gah, I’m all over the place.

    Cheers!

    Diayl

  18. Heidi says:

Gosh! I have been wanting to read this series for awhile now, and I know I even have the first book on my ereader. It sounds awesome especially if you whipped right through the four books. Hellhounds? That sounds fun. Must read soon! Hey, did you get my email yesterday?
