Date Read: Feb 2013
Genre: PNR, Romance
A group of former Navy SEALS, the Alpha Pack is a top-secret team of wolf shifters with Psy powers combating the greatest dangers in the world. But sometimes those dangers are more intimate than they bargained for…
Ever since he saved Dr. Mackenzie Grant’s life, panther shifter and sorcerer Kalen Black has had trouble keeping the beautiful doctor out of his thoughts, and his heart. The brush with death awakened an intense passion between them—one that for the first time had the notorious loner letting down his guard.
With the Alpha Pack battling an evil Fae who is slowly gaining control over Kalen’s mind, Kalen can no longer trust his own actions, and he breaks off his affair with Mackenzie in order to keep her safe. But when Mackenzie learns that she is carrying Kalen’s child, no amount of danger will keep her away from the man she loves. To protect his mate and unborn child, Kalen will have to battle a terrible evil, unleash the full fury of his power, and risk destroying them all…

I am doing a series review of the Alpha Pack series by J.D. Tyler. There are only 3 books out so far but I think the next one comes out this summer.
Putting this out there: I claim Hammer! He is mine so y’all can just back off 🙂 Who can’t love a big burly wolf shifter who spends his off time reading, knitting, and quilting. I know there is a big bad story behind this because the guy is lethal. However, he is also just such a sweet mix of shy and loyal friend that I know he is going to be my favorite. (Blue will be my second favorite but I think I would want him as a brother type of guy)
Overall Rating: 4.75
Story Rating: 4.50
Character Rating: 5.00
The most emotionally draining of the 3 books!
What I thought of Alpha Pack #3: Holy emotional steamroller! Black Moon from beginning to end will pull at every little heartstring that you possess. Mackenzie has been my favorite female lead to date. She has just so much to deal with in Black Moon that you really want to just wrap your arms around her and let her fall apart for 5 min. However, she keeps it together and really is the big hero of the story. Yes, Kalen is the one doing the fighting but I really think without Mac he could have been the bad guy. She was the thread that made the strong man even stronger. *sigh* Aren’t those the best kind of love stories?
*I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t more Hammer in this story (he is my favorite) but a girl can’t have everything. I am really looking forward to seeing who the rest of the #nakedshifters end up mating with!
During her non-reading time you can find her hanging with her rescue furr children named after book characters: Lizzie a beautiful cattle dog mix (Pound Pup), Cinder a beautiful Shep/Pitt mix (Pound Pup), and Minerva a beautiful Shep/Pitt mix (Foster Fail). Gathering with friends and family, attending conventions, watching movies/tv shows, rooting for the 49rs, and crocheting.
