There’s a big curse in little Chinatown…and it’s not Prohibition.

It’s the roaring twenties, and San Francisco is a hotbed of illegal boozing, raw lust, and black magic. The fog-covered Bay Area can be an intoxicating scene, particularly when you specialize in spirits…

Aida Palmer performs a spirit medium show onstage at Chinatown’s illustrious Gris-Gris speakeasy. However, her ability to summon (and expel) the dead is more than just an act.

Winter Magnusson is a notorious bootlegger who’s more comfortable with guns than ghosts—unfortunately for him, he’s the recent target of a malevolent hex that renders him a magnet for hauntings. After Aida’s supernatural assistance is enlisted to banish the ghosts, her spirit-chilled aura heats up as the charming bootlegger casts a different sort of spell on her.

On the hunt for the curseworker responsible for the hex, Aida and Winter become drunk on passion. And the closer they become, the more they realize they have ghosts of their own to exorcise…

The Colony Public Library:  NOS4A2 by Joe Hill

The Colony Public Library

  • Type of Checkout: Audiobook
  • Status: Already read by wanted to listen too! Excellent Book!

NOS4A2 is a spine-tingling novel of supernatural suspense from master of horror Joe Hill, the New York Times bestselling author of Heart-Shaped Box and Horns.

Victoria McQueen has a secret gift for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. On her Raleigh Tuff Burner bike, she makes her way to a rickety covered bridge that, within moments, takes her wherever she needs to go, whether it’s across Massachusetts or across the country.

Charles Talent Manx has a way with children. He likes to take them for rides in his 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith with the NOS4A2 vanity plate. With his old car, he can slip right out of the everyday world, and onto the hidden roads that transport them to an astonishing – and terrifying – playground of amusements he calls “Christmasland.”

Then, one day, Vic goes looking for trouble—and finds Manx. That was a lifetime ago. Now Vic, the only kid to ever escape Manx’s unmitigated evil, is all grown up and desperate to forget. But Charlie Manx never stopped thinking about Victoria McQueen. He’s on the road again and he’s picked up a new passenger: Vic’s own son.

  1. I hope you enjoy Bitter Spirits when you get your hands on it. Joe Hill’s book is my next listen as soon as I finish 11-22-6y3 by his dad! I am planning on heading to the library today!

  2. Great haul! I still need to read Bitter Spirits. They only have physical books at my library but I did suggest them to get the ebook. 😀

I also have a Joe Hill book. Haven’t gotten to it. It is Horns, but I’m curious about this one as well.

    • It was yours and one other person that made me step up in line. I have a “secret” wishlist on amazon where I put all the books that my book blogging buddies make me want to check out 🙂 Then of course I either watch for an amazon sale or for my library to get it LOL

  3. I’ve read a few of the Crochet Mystery series books – they’re fun and easy reads, plus they have some good patterns included in them! Hope you enjoy the first book!!!
