Hi y’all! Welcome to my Wednesday Weekly Spotlight: Romance Authors of Color. Each week I will be spotlighting mine and my friends favorites. If you have one you want to suggest please email me. Heck if you want to take over one of the Wednesday spots to sing their praises then please do. This is the best way I can think to give back to the community that entertains and delights me.

This week I am spotlighting Rebekah Weatherspoon. I found her last year through a friend of mine who suggested I read Rafe. The conversation went something like this:

Friend: YOU NEED TO READ/LISTEN to Rafe by Rebekah Weatherspoon

Me: Isn’t that contemporary romance? You know that is not normally my jam

Friend: I know! However, based on the ones that you have liked, I am telling you this is going to be worth your time.

Me: Give me a reason…

Friend: Awesome Male Nanny. Super smart and independent Woman. Grown-Ass Conversations.

Me: Are you telling me I am going to get a couple who actually have Grown-Ass Conversations even when they are going to be tough?

Friend: YUP!

Y’all she was not wrong! Seriously I have all the feels for grown-ass couples who even talk about the tough stuff! I listened to Rafe then went on to buy the Fit Trilogy, which I read. Again there were some grown-ass conversations in there even when tough. I am all about this. Finally I picked up Xeni over the weekend. I haven’t read it yet but I imagine it will hit all my buttons too.

So that is how I found her but you want to know what I really adore about Rebekah–her passion for her fellow writers. Her “no holds barred” support of marginalized authors who don’t often get the kind of promotion they deserve. I think she spends more time doing that then promoting herself. She is just a GEM! Adore her. She is someone I admire. Someone who I look up to. Someone who deserves all the good things in life.

So how can you find her? Where can you get the books? Let me give you all details:

Where to Find Rebekah:

How about those books:

All Dr. Sloan Copeland needed was someone to watch her kids. What she found was the man of her dreams…

After a nasty divorce and a thousand mile move, Dr. Sloan Copeland and her twin daughters are finally getting the hang of their new life in Los Angeles. When their live-in nanny bails with no warning, Sloan is left scrambling to find a competent caretaker to wrangle her smart, sensitive girls. Nothing less will do.
Enter Rafe Whitcomb. He’s all of those things, not to mention good-natured and one heck of a whiz in the kitchen. He’s also tall, and handsome, and bearded, and ripped, and tatted, wrist to neck.
It doesn’t take long for the Copelands to invite Rafe into their home. Just as quickly, both Sloan and Rafe find themselves succumbing to a heady mutual attraction, neither of them wants to deny. With every minute they spend under the same roof, this working mom can’t help but wonder if Rafe can handle all her needs…

**This stand-alone romance is fluffy. So fluffy. It’s fluff. Low. Angst. Fluff. featuring a large tatted, motorcycle riding ginger man, who bakes a mean bacon quiche and knows exactly how to wrangle clever six year olds while making their mom feel loved, loved, loved.**

She just wanted to claim her inheritance. What she got was a husband… Xeni Everly-Wilkins has ten days to clean out her recently departed aunt’s massive colonial in Upstate New York. With the feud between her mom and her sisters still raging even in death, she knows this will be no easy task, but when the will is read Xeni quickly discovers the decades old drama between the former R&B singers is just the tip of the iceberg. The Secrets, lies, and a crap ton of cash spilled on her lawyer’s conference room table all come with terms and conditions. Xeni must marry before she can claim the estate that will set her up for life and her aunt has just the groom in mind. The ruggedly handsome and deliciously thicc Scotsman who showed up at her aunt’s memorial, bagpipes at the ready. When his dear friend and mentor Sable Everly passed away, Mason McInroy knew she would leave a sizable hole in his heart. He never imagined she’d leave him more than enough money to settle the debt that’s keeping him from returning home to Scotland. He also never imagined that Sable would use her dying breaths to play match-maker, trapping Mason and her beautiful niece in a marriage scheme that comes with more complications than either of them need. With no choice but to say I do, the unlikely pair try to make the best of a messy situation. They had no plans to actually fall in love. **This is a stand alone romance that can be read along with RAFE: A Buff Male Nanny. It features a woman sick to death of her family’s sh*t and a plus-size Scotsman who just wants to make sweet, sweet music. And love.**

Violet Ryan loves the delicious food she gets to eat on the reality shows she produces for The Food Channel. What she hates is her expanding waistline. Determined to drop the pounds, Violet hatches a plan to kick start a fitness regimen. But when her determination isn’t enough to get her through even one intense group class without breaking down into tears, she knows she needs a new approach and possibly a new trainer—one with a lighter touch.

Grant Gibson has always managed to mix business with pleasure, but now this trainer by day, and Dominant by night, is bored. Bored and lonely. Even though he owns one of L.A.’s hottest private gyms, his personal life is sorely lacking. After his last submissive tried to kidnap his dog and the contents of his bank account, he’s in no hurry to take a new lover under his wing. Not until the voluptuous Violet falls into his lap.

She may be wary of his unorthodox approach of using sexual gratification as a reward, but even before her initial weigh-in Violet can’t seem to stay away from the sexy fitness god. She may have to let Grant show her there’s more than one way to get in shape…

**This story contains light acts of bondage and a feisty submissive who gives her Dominant a run for his money.**

Nailah Shalaby loves her interior design work almost as much as she loves her family. What she hates is the way her brothers and her father can’t seem to stay out of her business. When her current personal trainer and casual sex buddy is exposed in a very public, very scandalous affair — with a client who isn’t Nailah — Nailah agrees to switch trainers at her father’s insistence. Too bad her father found her another fitness professional whose bright personality and rugged good looks make it impossible for Nailah to see him as anything other than her next conquest.

Armando Vasquez expects a little bit of drama when he agrees to take on the daughter of an acquaintance as a new client. What he doesn’t count on is Nailah Shalaby being such a complete ice princess. Always the professional, Armando is determined to ignore Nailah’s frosty demeanor while he gets her into the best shape of her life.

Their workouts are going as smoothly as planned until Nailah discovers Armando’s sexually dominant side and insists he use his knowledge of all things B, D and SM to escort her through his world of kink. They can hardly stand each other, but with every erotic encounter neither of them can deny… that thin line between love and hate never felt so good.

**This story contains acts of sadomasochism and a submissive who takes her Dominant on one hell of an emotional roller coaster ride. **

All Keira Kenney wants is her happy ending. Too bad she can never make it through a first date. Is a nice man who’s into fitness and comics, with an extensive knowledge of everything science-fiction too much to ask for? Apparently, since Keira can’t seem to find a partner who can simply tolerate her interests. Perhaps it’s time for her to give up. She has her job at Melrose Fitness, a new season of her favorite space drama added to streaming, and hundreds of thousands of words worth of fan fiction all to keep her mind busy. Her heart will have to wait.

Pyrotechnics expert, Daniel Song isn’t looking for anything. He spends his days doing what he loves, and his nights and weekends participating in the kinky activities his body craves. Single life as a sexual switch suits him perfectly, giving him the freedom to indulge in the types of erotic adventures some people only dream of.

When a good friend asks Daniel if his co-worker, Keira can join him at a local sci-fi convention, neither of them expect any sort of fireworks to spark. After all, Keira’s turned off by kink and Daniel can’t live without with it. So naturally they both agree that an official first date would be a great idea. With this new relationship fresh between them, Daniel shares what he can of himself without scaring Keira off, hiding his shock and growing infatuation as she rises to every sexual occasion with her silly, geek-girl personality. It’s only a matter of time before they both have to face the truth; what he wants is the furthest thing from what she needs. But in the meantime, pushing each other’s sexual limits seems like a good plan. It’s like not either of them is looking for love.

**This story contains two massive nerds who can’t keep their hands off each other. And fisting.*

  1. These synopses are really hitting all the marks for me on what I look for in a contemporary romance! How had I never heard of her writing before?! Thanks for the recommendation!

  2. I finally remembered to check this one out from the library. It’s available via Hoopla, and so far, I’m loving the audiobook narration tons! Thank you again for recommending this new author’s novel.

  3. YES!!! I picked up and devoured RAFE at holiday time. I loved it hard – all the same reasons. I’m reading XENI now. We’ll have to compare notes.
