This is the second book in Julia London’s Highland Grooms series. The hero, Cailean Mackenzie, is the son of Arran and Margot from the first book in this series. At a young age, Cailean had his heart broken by an English girl, who led him on but “could never marry a Scot”. As such, Cailean has no plans to ever wed and is building a home not far from his parents and an unkempt hunting lodge owned by some Englishman.

Daisy, Lady Chatwick, a widow with a young son (Ellis), is almost out of time to remarry per her late husband’s will.

Quick Thoughts: I have started 2017 in a thriller type of mood. This series has always been a bit of a hit or miss with me. Faye writes really good thrillers but sometimes too much of the Decker/Lazarus relationship bleeds into the story.

I could not put this book down! The characters, the plots, the (to the best of my memory) accurate historical facts make this a keeper. The writing is wonderful and you feel the characters’ emotions. It’s a wild ride to the HEA.

Imogen Pritchard works as a nurse by day and as a waitress at a bar/brothel to pay off her father’s gambling debts to the bar’s owner. She is supporting her mother and younger sister. One night a group of soldiers come in to celebrate. She catches the eye of one soldier, the new Duke of Trenwyth, who has just buried his family and is leaving on his last assignment. He offers enough money for her to pay a good portion of her debt and she agrees as she is attracted to him.

Wild Wicked Scot – 4 stars

This is the first book in the Highland Grooms series and I enjoyed it very much. It’s set in the early 1700s and Julia London has the political intrigue and plots very accurate, if my memory is correct.

Laird Arran Mackenzie has kept his clan out of politics and well off from his shipping and trading ventures. His dealings with the English Lord Norwood, have brought him a barony and an English bride.

This is Anna Bennett’s first book and it won’t be the last one of hers that I read. I enjoyed this story very much. You’ll like the hero and heroine, but you’ll lose your heart to the two little girls.
