Quick Thoughts: This was a hard book for me to rate. I really liked the suspense part and I was madly loving Isaac until his vow of love/you are my everything speech.

NOTE: Keep Me Safe by Maya Banks was an excellent thriller but the romance really got in the way.

I have put off writing this review because quite simply I didn’t know how to say what I felt about the story. So I am going to make a list:

Hi Y’all! It is November and I am bringing back the Month of Thanks. I had so much fun doing this last year that I thought I would recycle the program again this year.   Each day I will highlight one book from 2013 that really stuck with me and one blogger (and their awesomeness) that I am thankful for! These are not in any particular order and by no means is 30 going to cover everyone (or books) that I love.   Listened for Armchair Audies (Audible) Overall Rating: 5.00 Story Rating: 5.00 Character Rating: 5.00 Audio Rating: 3.50 (not part of the overall rating) First Thought When Finished: I loved this book from beginning to end. Leading ladies with fire and sass are always my favorite! Why I Loved Never Seduce a Scot: I am a sucker for romances that involve unusual leading characters. In this case, Eveline is deaf. I love how this plays into the story and how she uses it to her advantage. The story never tries to discount her disability and instead weaves it into every aspect of her daily life. Add to Goodreads | Read my Review    Best Thing about Her: She is totally funny and brilliant!  She is that girl! What I *heart* about her: Amanda and I have been friends since way back.  I love her humor, her fun, and her support of those around her.  She is a brilliant blogger (go check out The Path of Least Revision) and offers up lots of great tips.  She also has a heart of gold and isn’t afraid to share knowledge. She is just fantastic. Why you should follow her:  Did I mention her humor?  If not how about her tips & tricks?  How about she is one of the original creators of Top Off Tuesday? How about she is the creator (along with Kelly who is coming up in a few weeks for this) of Bout-Of-Books read-a-thon! Go follow On A Book Bender

First Thought When Finished: Beauty and the Beast reversed and there were kilts! FTW!

Story Thoughts: Again Maya has wowed me with a story that involves an unusual character. This time it was a reverse Beauty and The Beast type of story. I thought Genevieve’s story was heartbreaking and yet at the same time hopeful.

Read from February 26 to 27, 2013 Listened for Armchair Audies (Audible) Overall Rating: 5.00 Story Rating: 5.00 Character Rating: 5.00 Audio Rating: 3.50 (not part of the overall rating) First Thought When Finished: I loved this book from beginning to end. Leading ladies with fire and sass are always my favorite! Story Thoughts: Here is what you need to know about me–I am a sucker for romances that involve unusual leading characters. In this case, Eveline is deaf. I love how this plays into the story and how she uses it to her advantage. The story never tries to discount her disability and instead weaves it into every aspect of her daily life. The romance plays out in a similar fashion–slowly and with intent. Even though this is an arranged marriage story, it is one that ends up getting you in the heart! Character Thoughts: I love Eveline. For a woman of her time she was resourceful and smart. She does honor her place in her men’s (father and husband) life but she works hard to make her own spot within those constraints. Graeme is a man of his word and very perceptive (except when he isn’t –freaking males). I loved how they fell in love, understood each other, and had a really awesome declaration of love scene. I laughed out loud and cried happy tears! Audio Thoughts: Narrated by Kirsten Potter /Running Time 10 hrs and 10 mins I am going to start with I normally LOVE Kirsten Potter. Y’all have seen me gush about the Dianne Duvall series and how I have to listen to it on audio. Same goes with the Lisa Gardner series so I love Kirsten on a whole. I don’t know what it was about this book that didn’t wow me in audio form. Kirsten did her normal awesome job with pacing and emotions. I think I just didn’t connect to the character voices 🙁 It happens occasionally though luckily not very often with my favorite narrators. Final Thoughts: Really love this series! I think Maya writes excellent historicals and if you haven’t given them a whirl, you should!
