Lady Sophie Wolcott is an eccentric bluestocking who spends her time working at an orphanage. She has a crush on her friend’s brother, Richard, Earl of Abelard since she was 8. Attending a ball at the Duke of Huntington’s home she climbs a tree to eavesdrop on Richard proposing to someone else. When they go inside, she attempts to get down only to fall near the Duke, Devlin, and a lady friend. He sees that she gets home safely and makes sure there will be no gossip.
