First Thought When Finished: Thank you Bon Temps and Charlaine Harris for all the good times over the years! You will be missed!

NOTE: I realize I am probably in the minority but I actually like how the end scene worked. I thought it held very true to who Sookie Stackhouse was from the beginning. She never wanted to be owned, controlled, or a side character in her own life. Even half way through the series, she was repeating that mantra…..

: ** spoiler alert ** Read for Fun (Kindle) Overall Rating: 4.00 (2009), 3.75 (2013) Story Rating: 4.25 (2009), 4.00 (2013) Character rating: 3.75 (2009), 3.50 (2013 Read Originally in 2009/ReRead in 2013 *SPOILERS because well this is like the 5th ReRead for me!* Original Review in 2009 (Horrid Writing but not tweaking it! Also I think it was a reread review too. Clearly I wasn’t far along in the series when I reread it or my Bill reaction would have been stronger aka mentioned): This book is a very good introduction book. It pretty much introduces most of the main characters used throughout the series. Of course, some of them are just in passing (not enough Eric–but that is a theme until later)! She has a good way of letting you know how they think, why they react the way they do, and let’s you really get immersed in the town of Bon Temps. This is a must read for anyone who likes PNR with a cheeky twist! ReRead Review 2013: First Thought When Finished: I swear I now ReRead Dead until Dark going: Oh look Bill is an ass! Oh look, there goes Bill being an Ass again and I didn’t catch it the first time! Why did I love Bill in the beginning? Dang him and his ass ways later in the series! Oh wait, now that I think of it his being an ass was kind of obvious I just wasn’t paying attention. Character Thoughts: I love Bon Temps! I have to admit on the ReRead that I disliked Bill so much that it took away from the characters a bit. I will admit though that I liked sticking my toe back into the beginning of the world and getting introduced to the characters all over again. It reminded me of my love for the weird, strange, and downright redneck characterization of all my favorite Bon Temps peeps! Story Thoughts: I will admit on the reread that I am still crushed every darn time when Gran dies! I mean I seriously love that woman to pieces. Also, since I know who the killer is the mystery is a little gone BUT I spent the whole book going “oh I see a clue there” and “wink wink, nudge nudge”. I think rereads make you look at the books differently and I can’t wait to reread Dead in Dallas (it is one of my favorite in the Series)! Final Thoughts: I am going to miss Bon Temps when the last book releases this May. I just know that I will cry!

Hi Y’all! It is November and that is always the month I am reminded that there are tons of things that I am thankful for in my life. This year November will be known as the Month of Thanks. I am going to do 30 days of Thanks here on Geeky Bloggers Book Blog! Each day I will highlight one author (and the book they wrote that moved me) and one blogger (and their awesomeness) that I am thankful for! These are not in any particular order and by no means is 30 going to cover everyone that I love. I am thankful for Charlaine Harris and her Sookie Stackhouse series.  I am sad there is only one more book but I loved how Deadlocked set everything in motion for the last book.  I know that some people thought it was slow but I really enjoyed it.  I was glad to see that some stories were wrapped up and others really kicked into “last stand” kind of mode 🙂 Sookie has a murder investigation on her hands. A young girl has died at a vampire party – and it looks as though her lover, Eric, might be responsible. Eric swears he didn’t do it, the police don’t believe him, and even Sookie isn’t so sure. Nor is she inclined to take his word for it, not having caught him enjoying the victim’s blood minutes before she was killed. But something strange is going on. Why had Sookie been asked to come to the fateful party a few minutes early – just to catch Eric in the act? And why had the victim spiked her own blood before approaching Eric? Was it simply because she wanted to be irresistable, or was it something more sinister? Sookie will have to find out … but it’s the worst moment to investigate, as her Fae family are having troubles of their own and Sookie is, inevitably, drawn in. And there is one last complication. The cluviel dor her grandmother left her. It will grant her one wish, which could fulfil Sookie’s heart’s desire. The only problem is, she still doesn’t know what – or who – her heart truly desires ..   I am thankful for TwiMom227 from That’s What I’m Talking About!  She is a hoot and I always have fun when hanging out with her.  I have been lucky enough to meet this wonderful woman in person a couple of times and she truly is delight.  She is an avid romance reader and a great mom. She is also a great friend and a worthy person to know 🙂 I adore her!
