From Goodreads: The Cursed Clan, Book 1
Will desire be the answer or the ruin of an entire clan?
As Laird, Callum Lennon feels he has always failed to protect his cousins. Callum’s impulsiveness caused the death of his father and the experience has scarred not only his body, but his soul. From that point on, he made sure to always go with the more logical choice in every matter. When his younger cousin Angus finds clues that might help break the curse, Callum begrudgingly hires Phoebe Chilton to investigate. Callum doesn’t like bringing outsiders into their family affairs. Their life would become fodder for the tabloids if anyone were to find out about the curse. It doesn’t help that the instant he meets Dr. Chilton he’s attracted. But, he doesn’t really have a choice because she might be their last hope.
An expert in archeology, Phoebe has always been dwarfed by her parents’ shadow. Their high standards had her in college by thirteen and earning a second PhD by twenty-two. But her career and her broken marriage have left her needing something more than just diplomas and degrees. She wants to prove that her interest in legends, especially Celtic legends, is as important as her parents’ work. When the Lennon family contacts her, she sees the opportunity to win a massive research grant. With a long-time rival breathing down her back, she jumps at the Lennons’ offer her, hoping it will ensure her the grant. But uncovering the Lennon family secrets, and her attraction to Callum, could prove more than she can handle.
Forces outside the family are determined to ensure that they fail. When an old enemy threatens both the well being of the clan and the fragile new love, Callum will have to choose between believing his mind or his heart

First thought when finished: Holy Cow! This is going to be a fun series to read—just the right combo of story/romance!
What I Loved: I really loved the story that is being laid for the 5 members of the Cursed Clan. Each of them is adorably lovable in their own unique way. Plus, I love when you can’t wait to see the type of HEA that they will end up with. That being said, This is Callum and Phoebe’s story and I loved it. I think their strong personalities and her little bit of unsureness in relationships was fun to watch play out.
What I Liked: I really liked how the curse is playing into the overall storyline of the series. I liked that we didn’t get all the answers but that you felt like Callum got his answer. Melissa managed to give a complete story yet leave some things yet to come. It is one of my favorite elements in series reading when an author does this successfully. She definitely pulled it off!
What made me go huh? (explaining character rating): There were 2 times in this story I wanted to smack someone. First was every time Pheobe let her mind wander over to Callum instead of concentrating on the Diary. As a research nerd, I can tell you that frustrated me. However, hot guy in a room with you–it might be totally understandable LOL. The last time was on the very last page when Callum said “No one would believe you”–I thought he was past all that. I think he is but I still wanted to smack him and it did make me think a little less of him. The only reason I mention either of these is to explain why the character rating is 4.00. Neither of these incidents caused me to dislike either one of the characters!
Final Thoughts: This was such a good read! For me, it was just the right amount of romance, story, and smexy. Not one element overwhelmed the others. I highly recommend this book!
