About the Book: As the city sleeps in the early hours of September 10, 2001, the killer waits and watches, unaware of the cataclysm to come. Even the nightmare of 9/11 will not postpone his private reign of terror.
Allison Taylor adores her adopted city, New York, loving every minute of the invigorating urban hustle. But on a bright and clear September morning, the familiar landscape around her is savagely altered–and in the midst of widespread chaos and fear, a woman living upstairs from her is found, brutally slaughtered and mutilated.
For Allison . . . for her neighbor, James “Mack” MacKenna, desperately searching for news of his missing wife . . . for homicide detective Rocky Manzillo, hunting for a monster called “The Nightwatcher” amid the smoking ruins of a devastated city, this tragic day will hold a special horror. Because a different kind of terror has entered their lives . . . and it’s coming to claim Allison Taylor as its next victim

Read for Fun!
Overall Rating: 3.75
Story Rating: 3.50
Character Rating: 4.00
First thought when finished: Nightwatcher is the first Wendy Corsi Staub book that I have read and it was a great mix of characters/story.
What I thought of the story: Nightwatcher used one of the thriller tricks that isn’t my favorite (I won’t say because it will give something away) so that is why I rated the story lower. The writing was powerful and compelling. Most of the book I was trying to figure out the ins/outs and it was fun!
What I thought of the characters: Nightwatcher excelled in characters. They were so well written and done that I really started counting down to the next installment already.
Final thought: Wendy Corsi Staub is an excellent writer that brings a bit brilliant character writing to the thriller genre.

You’ve got us hooked. We want to know THE TRICK!!!!
Sorry can’t give that away :)
I definitely want to know about the trick you are referring to.
I love when there are tricks in books :)
Oh now I’m curious as to the trick you are talking about. I do like a good thriller and this sounds good.
I think you would like it!
I read one of her YA books and enjoyed it. I think this book would be difficult for me to read since it uses 9/11 as a kind of setting, but I still think I would like to read this, if only to find out what “Thriller trick” you are talking about!
The 9/11 part is hard and it will hit people close to home. I am not sure that people up close to it would be able to read it. She lives there so some personal experience went into this book
Great review, I’ve never read anything by this author and I am glad you liked it.
I hadn’t either but now I have read 2 more. Both really well written.
