Review: Nice Girls Don’t Date Dead Men by Molly Harper (Audiobook)(Rating 4 Wine Glasses)

From Goodreads: Once a devoted children’s librarian, Jane Jameson now works at a rundown occult bookstore. Once a regular gal, she’s now a vampire. And instead of a bride, she’s an eternal bridesmaid — which leads her to question where exactly her relationship with her irresistibly sexy sire, Gabriel, is headed. Mercurial, enigmatic, apparently commitment-phobic vampires are nothing if not hard to read. While Jane is trying to master undead dating, she is also donning the ugliest bridesmaid’s dress in history at her best friend Zeb’s Titanic-themed wedding. Between a freaked-out groom-to-be, his hostile werewolf in-laws, and Zeb’s mother, hell-bent on seeing Jane walk the aisle with Zeb, Jane’s got the feeling she’s just rearranging the proverbial deck chairs.

Meanwhile, Half Moon Hollow’s own Black Widow, Jane’s Grandma Ruthie, has met her match in her latest fiancé. He smells like bad cheese and has a suspicious history of dead spouses. But Jane’s biting her tongue. After all, would a nice girl really think she has a future with a vampire?

What I Loved: Jane has to be one of my favorite all-time characters, ever. She is smart, sassy, and has the knee-jerk reactions that make you wince and then think, oh shoot I would have done that too. In Nice Girls Don’t Date Dead Men there are so many of those classic Jane moments that I dare you to try to not laugh out loud and giggle uncontrollably. I don’t think you will succeed 🙂 This is one of those books that make a reader happy. Dick Cheney is my 2nd favorite character and he has plenty of great moments in the book also. Without giving anything away the overall story of Zeb’s pending wedding was a great story to tell.

What I Liked: The “old” women in this book are terrible but fun. I personally don’t want to mess with Zeb’s mom or Jane’s grandma. Their antics were fun to listen to but wowzer those women are scarier than any supernatural creature alive.

Complaints: None

Audio Review: Narrated by Amanda Ronconi who again does an excellent job with the women’s voices but the men all sound to feminine. I knew this though and still choose to listen to it on audio because I really like how Amanda pulls off all the one-liners that Molly writes! I am getting used to the guys voices.

Why I gave it a 4 and added it to the Snort Club: Had literal water coming out of my nose while listening to this book. It made me smile, laugh, and even cry. All around the kind of book that I like to read.

Who I would recommend it too: PNR readers that like the lighter reads.
