This year I have challenged myself to read 25 Holiday (Winter, Christmas, New Years) themed books. I am calling this my 25 Books for the Holidays personal challenge. It should be fun!
About the Book: Holiday time is party time in New York City, but after a sparkling winter bash ends with a murder, Village Blend coffeehouse manager Clare Cosi vows to put the killer on ice…
At the Great New York Cookie Swap, pastry chefs bake up their very best for charity. Clare is in charge of the beverage service, and her famous Fa-la-la-la Lattes make the gathering even merrier. But her high spirits come crashing down to earth, when she discovers the battered body of a hard-working baker’s assistant.
Police suspect a serial attacker whose escalating crimes have become known as “The Christmas Stalkings.” Clare’s boyfriend, NYPD detective Mike Quinn, finds reason to believe even more sinister forces are involved. Clare isn’t so sure—and when she finds a second bludgeoned baker, she becomes a target. Now Clare is spending the holiday season pouring over clues, and she’s not going to rest until justice is served.

How Holiday Buzz put me in the Holiday Spirit: Oh how I love this coffehouse with it’s wonderfully delightful characters, rich coffees that sound good to even a non-coffee drinker like myself, and the quirky investigations that Clare gets herself into. Needless to say snowstorms with murder make some of the best holiday reads!
What I thought of the characters/story: Holiday Buzz is the second Coffeehouse Mystery that I have read and I enjoyed it! I am going to have to pick up the rest of the series because they are just so darn fun. I think the best thing about this series is that the characters are fun, a little outlandish, and never what you expect. I haven’t ever lived in New York so I have no idea if people are as quirky as these folks but if so then it must be a blast to live there. In this book, I got over the fact that Clare was telling the police how to do their jobs (or thinking she knew better) because that is just how the character is written. In real life, this kind of person would annoy the living daylights out of me but in a book, I am beginning to find it acceptable (to a point). The case was interesting and I didn’t figure it out till the end. That is always great in cozy mysteries. The twists and turns were unpredictable and delightful. Everyone in one way or another got involved! Overall this was just fun and perfect for the holiday season!
During her non-reading time you can find her hanging with her rescue furr children named after book characters: Tonks a beautiful Lab/Pyr mix (Farm Rescue), Lizzie a beautiful cattle dog mix (Pound Pup), and Cinder a beautiful Shep/Pitt mix (Pound Pup). Gathering with friends and family, attending conventions, watching movies/tv shows, rooting for the 49rs, and crocheting.
