Readers & Ritas Countdown Week 2: Connie Cox

Posted October 9, 2013 by Felicia S in Readers N Ritas / 15 Comments

Hi y’all and welcome to my Readers & Ritas Countdown Week 2: Connie Cox edition!  I have asked Connie Cox to stop by and tell us about her  Readers & Ritas experiences.  I have been to several of these conferences and look forward to them every year!  At the end of the post, I will give you information on who is attending and how to buy tickets!

Readers n ‘ritas is one of the events I put big stars all over on my calendar.  I love to read.  I love to write.  What better party to attend than one made up of readers and writers! We talk about book people like they’re real.  And when it comes to the hard, cold facts, they’re as real as a lot of our facebook and twitter friends, right?

Being among so many who are just like me, caught up in the fiction world because it makes our real world better.  Not just for escapism, but to show us a bigger world, to show us a different perspective than our own geographically limited lives give us.

Reading makes me a bigger, better person.  That’s something  our non-reader friends don’t get, right?  But everyone at Readers n ‘ritas gets that.  Everyone at Readers n ‘ritas gets me.  Surrounded by some many wonderful readers, I feel like I fit in.  Add in a few margaritas, and I’m the life of the party—but that’s a different post<G>.

ContractuallyYours200X300This is a special year for me.  Not only do I have three Mills and Boons Medical romances out, I’ve published my first indie releases.  Putting together swag for my table to celebrate Contractually Yours, my wedding planner vs. corporate raider story and White Wine and Wild Rides, my rock star switched identity story, has been so much fun.  White Wine and Wild Rides will be out in November, just in time for Readers n ‘ritas. (Hint: Sit at my table and get good swag!)

And I’m writing a different kind of story under a different name.  Ask me about my secret identity and for a free download—okay, you probably won’t have to ask.  I’ll probably be telling everyone who will listen.  So much for secret identity, huh?

Oh!  And I’m doing something really special to celebrate White Wine and Wild Rides.  I’m sponsoring the DJ for the Masquerade Ball.  I love to dance and I’m so glad Fresh Fiction has added this to the party.  And yes, I dance better after a few margaritas.  Don’t we all?

So, counting down the days until I see you.  I will see you, right?  If you can’t make it, allow me to drink a margarita in your honor.

Books have always been Connie Cox’s passion.  Many thanks to her mom for that! Connie used to think authors were sophisticated creatures who lived in NYC, went to glitzy parties and wrote as the muse dictated. Then she met one.The writer looked a lot like her-jeans, a few extra pounds, a love of books and a quirky imagination.Connie’s newfound love for running is taking care of the extra pounds.  Her fascination with Jungian psychology takes care of her story lines.  And her innate wild imagination does the rest.People fascinate Connie, especially people who fall in love. Writing romance novels gives Connie the freedom (a lot of freedom!)to explore the chemistry that brings lovers together.  It’s an exploration Connie takes seriously as she looks into that sexual spark that turns two singles into a couple.  Her story people really have to work hard for that coupling as she sends her characters on a journey of discovery both within themselves and in each other.  But the happily ever after makes the journey worth it. And there are often a few laughs along the way.

So why does Connie write? Because, now that she’s discovered the magic of letting loose the people in her imagination, she’s impossible to be around if she doesn’t let them have their way!

With many thanks for the encouragement of that first writer and many who have followed behind her, Connie now lives the dream, writing big stories from her little desk in her little Louisiana town. Even as you read this, she is working on a new story and living her own happily ever after.

  1. So I often I see events I can’t make it too because they’re taking place too far away. What stinks about this one is that I lived in DFW for 15 years and will live there again come January. But right now I’m in St. Louis and so I’ll have to miss yet another great event. boo 🙁 Next time I’m in though!

    • WOOT! Welcome back early! There are tons of things in this area (book clubs, many events, and many signings). It truly is an awesome place for a romance reader 🙂

      • Thanks! I miss TX so much and cannot wait to get back. When I lived there before I was not at all clued in. But now I know I’ll be all over it! Maybe we’ll even bump into each other.

  2. I WANT TO COME!! Readers & Ritas sounds like a blast — it’s always so much fun when you get to hang out with people who “get” you.

  3. This looks like a fantastic event! So many great authors are going. I wish I could! If I ever get the chance I want to go to BEA! Have fun, ladies!

  4. Hi Connie,
You are so right, I love the atmosphere at a convention, all those like minded people, with their love for books and reading and authors.
If your new book is not erotic, I would like to read it.
