First Thought when Finished: Pecan Pies and Homicides was my favorite in the series so far! The ending is what sealed the deal ๐
Story Thoughts: Hands down, this was the best mystery in the series so far. Ella Mae had her hands full with trying to figure out not only a murder but who might also try to torch the secret grove. There were twists, turns, and one thing (with the case) that I didn’t see coming. The series story arch moved forward at a really nice pace and gave us a lot of answers about some of the history of the town. It was nice to see Ella accepting who she is more and really getting more confident in herself. I was also thrilled to get more back story (and character development) about the feud between the two families. As you can tell, I really enjoyed this one!
Character Thoughts: I want to visit the Charmed Pie Shoppe and have pie! I think Ellery made the characters shine and not just Ella Mae. I felt we got to know all of the secondary characters more in this story because they all played a big role in protecting the grove. We got little nuggets of information that really made each one of them more individualistic and stars in their own right. Especially as we learned more about the feud between the two families. I am going to admit that I don’t dislike a certain someone near as much as I did before Pecan Pies. I loved the introduction of new characters and how they were brought to the community. In fact, is it bad that I hope we get a coffee shop (or maybe a spin off)? I was delighted to learn more about Hugh and can’t wait to see how Ella and he progress from here. Ella though was the star and she grew so much in this book. I wanted to hug her, cheer for her, and yes at times kick her hiney (though her BFF did a great job of playing the reader in this book and getting her in line).
Final Thoughts: Can’t wait till the next one!

Woohoo! I’m glad to hear it’s your favorite in the series so far. I hope to be reading it soon…
I agree with you Felicia, I so loved this book! My review posted today. The ending was fabulous, and I certainly did not guess the real culprit. I can’t wait to find out what happens next, but I am afraid we will have to wait a very long time.
With a title like that, I just have to read it out of pure curiosity! I do like the sounds of the characters too, and the world isn’t what I was expecting – magical baked good? – in a really fun way. Now to look up book 1…
Sounds like a shop I wanna visit.
i have my copy now but I am SOOO jealous you got an advance copy! Great series!
It was so good ๐ My favorite in the series!
I’ve only just read the first one of this series, but absolutely loved it!! I am going to grab the other two very quickly. Exciting to know this one is just as good. Thanks!
I think you will like them. The 2nd one was a little different than 1 and 3 but still good ๐
Yeah, glad this series is still going strong as well. I need to still read book two, but hope to soon. I always want pie after reading it too.
I was hungry after reading them too. I even made the breakfast pie in the back of this one! NUMMY!
I am not a huge mystery fan. It’s actually been a long time since I have even tried to read one, but I LOVE the title of this one! You make it sound so good that I just might have to give it a go! Great review! ๐
These were fun! Plus being a cozy mystery it is a little bit of romance and a light mystery. These are paranormal so they add some spark to the normal mystery.
Books like this make me hungry. I love them, though! There’s just something about a well-written cozy like this one that makes me happy. Adding it to the list!
I love making the recipes in the back! I made two out of this one and both were delish!
Mmm pie ๐ I have never had pecan pie
Oh you need to have Pecan Pie! It is my favorite ๐
