Quick Thoughts: This is a reread for me! This series is one of the first paranormal romances I fell in love with. Maeve is perhaps my favorite female vampire ever and her romance with Calder is fantastic. I loved everything about this story from the Civil War to the war for Vampires. There was action, romance, and a little twist at the end that never ever gets old no matter how many times I read it. If you are a fan of old school romance, I truly believe you will love this story.

Cris really brought Maeve and Calder to life! I knew that she would nail Maeve because that character is a weird combo of very powerful and yet with Calder she is vulnerable. The way she played her was fantastic.

I’m really hoping to get back to reading more PNR soon. It’s been YEARS
Well this one was originally published in 1996 so only start with this series if you like old school romance LOL π
I’m a recent fan of Miller’s so the subgenre seems strange for her. Your review has me thinking I should give it a listen!
As far as I know this is the only PNR she has written. It originally came out in the mid-90s π I like her Cowboys too!
