On the Edge by Ilona Andrews
Narrator: RenΓ©e Raudman
Length: 12 hrs and 8 mins

Date Read: January 2014

Genre: Fantasy, Urban Fantasy

Rose Drayton lives on the Edge, between the world of the Broken (where people drive cars, shop at Wal-Mart, and magic is a fairy tale) and the Weird (where blueblood aristocrats rule, changelings roam, and the strength of your magic can change your destiny). Only Edgers like Rose can easily travel from one world to the next, but they never truly belong in either.

Rose thought if she practiced her magic, she could build a better life for herself. But things didn't turn out how she planned, and now she works a minimum wage, off the books job in the Broken just to survive. Then Declan Camarine, a blueblood noble straight out of the deepest part of the Weird, comes into her life, determined to have her (and her power).

But when a terrible danger invades the Edge from the Weird, a flood of creatures hungry for magic, Declan and Rose must work together to destroy them, or the beasts will devour the Edge and everyone in it . .

First Thought when Finished On the Edge by Ilona Andrews was excellent! I wish the end would have been a tad bit longer πŸ™‚

Story Thoughts: What can I say about this book that hasn’t been said before? It is filled with amazing world building, freaking awesome characters, and kick ass action. I was hooked almost from the beginning and other than a rushed ending, I am in love. I have had this on my shelf since 2012 and I so should have gotten to it sooner. It was overall fantastic.

Character Thoughts: LOVED LOVED LOVED the characters. Rose was kick ass! Declan was swoon-worthy! The kids are awesome (even though I have been told they aren’t having a series of their own–I am still holding out hope). I adored William, he deserves love!

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By RenΓ©e Raudman / Length: 12 hrs and 8 mins

Renee did an excellent job with the narration of On the Edge. She was right on target with Rose, Declan, and the kiddos.

Final Thoughts: So glad I knocked this one off my TBR!

  1. I’ve been wanting to read one of hers for a while now, this one sounds like a good one to start with. If I could ever get through some of the priority reads. My car is being a pain in the butt with my audiobooks staying connected to my bluetooth and I even called Car Toys yesterday to see about getting something to fix it. The apps I downloaded for a mono bluetooth connection are driving me insane and I will be lucky if they do not cause an accident.

  2. I would love to see the kids get their own books!! I really love this story — the whole series, actually — and want to see more of this crazy world.

  3. Yes, I am so glad you loved it Felicia! It is a really great and surprising series. You will meet the boys again in the last book. I hope you will read them all quick now.

  4. I plan to check this series out in audio real soon. I absolutely LOVE their Kate Daniels, so I’m hoping their romance is just as good as their action. And, any excuse to listen to RenΓ©e Raudman is a good one in my books. πŸ™‚

    • I have the last book left to go in this one and then I am going to start Kate’s series (I have read the first one but need to reread it before getting back into it). I have loved the first 3 books. They are just so well done!

  5. I love this series. I started off reading and then eventually switched to listening. I wish the kids would get a book of there own as well. They do get more time in the series later on, so this won’t be the last time you see them. πŸ™‚

    • I have book 4 on my agenda for this weekend. It is my next quilting audiobook after Murder of Crows (which I am half way through and LURVING)!

  6. Great!!! I had this on my TBL for long time. I thought it was going to be good since I love the author, but now I’m excited….My God Felicia! We need more ears..LOL
