More Information:New York Times bestselling author Allison Brennan introduces an irrepressible heroine in her pulse-pounding new thriller Notorious, which Lisa Gardner says is, "Guaranteed to keep you up late at night."
Maxine Revere has dedicated her life to investigating murders that the police have long since given up any hope of solving. A nationally renowned investigative reporter with her own TV show and a tough-as-nails reputation, Max tackles cold cases from across the country and every walk of life. But the one unsolved murder that still haunts her is a case from her own past.
When Max was a high school senior, one of her best friends was strangled and another, Kevin O’Neal, accused of the crime. To the disgrace of her wealthy family, Max stood by her friend, until she found out he lied about his alibi. Though his guilt was never proven, their relationship crumbled from the strain of too many secrets.
Now Max is home for Kevin’s funeral—after years of drug abuse, he committed suicide. She’s finally prepared to come to terms with the loss of his friendship, but she’s not prepared for Kevin’s sister to stubbornly insist that he didn’t kill himself. Or for an elderly couple to accost her at the airport, begging her to look into another murder at Max’s old high school. Max is more interested in the cold case at her alma mater than in digging around Kevin’s troubled life, but she agrees to do both. As Max uncovers dark secrets, she finds herself caught in a complicated web of lies that hit far too close to home. And it’s becoming increasingly clear that someone will do whatever it takes to make sure the truth stays buried

Read It File It Review: Notorious by Allison Brennan kept me guessing till the very end. The mystery was strong! Also since this is the first in a new series, it is the perfect way to try Allison Brennan if you haven’t before (I love her writing).
Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Eliza Foss / Length: 12 hrs and 51 mins
The narration was OK but it wasn’t outstanding. I thought the pacing was off a little bit and some of the voices were just not my cup of tea. I thought Eliza did a great job with some other narrations (Alafair Burke)so it was just this match that didn’t work for me.

Love me some Allison Brennan. I’ve gotten behind on her books though. The description of this book makes me want to pick up Notorious so bad. Thanks for sharing!!!
I think I only tried one book by the author but I’m not sure. I’ll have to check that out.
She writes several different things. I really like her more suspense based stuff!
You know how picky I am with narrators
Yep! For me a narrator can be right for one story but not another. I should sample more before buying LOL
Great to see you liked this! I’m a fan of the author and have this book in the queue.
It was a good start to the series. The main character took a bit to warm up too but I think that was by design.
I’ve only read a YA by her so I need to check this one out.
I liked it! The story was strong and the characters grew on me. In mysteries I am ok with the characters being the weakest link
I can get on board with a good solid mystery but this one sounds like a better read than listen.
It would have been better read (at least for me). I am weird with narrators, I can like them in one story but not another.
I haven’t read this author (or listened to this narrator before) but I love a good thriller! I may have to try this one out sometime. Also, your Read It, File It button is very cute!
Thanks! It will probably change if I get my blog redone but for now it works 🙂
I have some of her books on the TBR, but haven’t actually read any yet. I like the sound of this one, so *runs to GR to add* Thanks! 🙂
It really was a good mix of mystery and suspense. I will be getting the second book 🙂
