An unexpected phone call heralds a new challenge for Mercy. Her mate Adam’s ex-wife is in trouble, on the run from her new boyfriend. Adam isn’t the kind of man to turn away a person in need—and Mercy knows it. But with Christy holed up in Adam’s house, Mercy can’t shake the feeling that something about the situation isn’t right.

Soon, her suspicions are confirmed when she learns that Christy has the farthest thing from good intentions. She wants Adam back and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen, including turning Adam’s pack against Mercy.

Mercy isn’t about to step down without a fight, but there’s a more dangerous threat circling. Christy’s ex is more than a bad man—in fact, he may not be human at all. As the bodies start piling up, Mercy must put her personal troubles aside to face a creature with the power to tear her whole world apart

First Thought when Finished: Beware the exes! Night Broken by Patricia Briggs proves that even Mercy has to deal with the pesky things.

Read It File It Review: Night Broken wasn’t my favorite in the series but I still listened to it pretty much in two days flat. There is something about Mercy Thompson’s world that is oddly relaxing (not for the characters but me) and I can always count on some kick ass action. This time there was a pesky ex (Adam’s) and a whole lot of “weird” stalker stuff going on (of the ex). Overall enjoyable!

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Lorelei King / Length: 10 hrs and 5 mins

Lorelei King is one of the best in the business. She nails Mercy and crew. If you aren’t listening to these on audio then you are missing out.

Final Thoughts: The countdown to the next one has begun.

I LOVED Night Broken – it may be my favorite, at least in a while. I love Mercy and I loved that this one incorporated so many of my favorite characters. Can’t wait doe the next one – or an Alpha and Omega book. I’m not sure when we can expect either though.

You know it is a great series when you start off the review with “wasn’t my favorite in the series” and it was still rated 4.25 stars. I love this series, especially on audio. Lorelei King can do no wrong.
