Month of Thanks

Hi Y’all! It is November and that is always the month I am reminded that there are tons of things that I am thankful for in my life. This year November will be known as the Month of Thanks. I am going to do 30 days of Thanks here on Geeky Bloggers Book Blog! Each day I will highlight one author (and the book they wrote that moved me) and one blogger (and their awesomeness) that I am thankful for! These are not in any particular order and by no means is 30 going to cover everyone that I love.

Month of Thanks

I am thankful to Richelle Mead!  I think I have read everything that she has written which is saying something because she writes YA too.  Yes y’all, I have a YA book on my favorites list for this year.  I am thankful for the latest book in the Bloodlines series: The Golden Lily!  I really am a fan of Sydney because she is a smart chic just trying to do the right thing!  I am still not loving the treatment of Adrian because that poor boy is a punching bag for women.  I *heart* him so I am hoping that in the not so distant future he gets some wine and roses 🙂

Month of Thanks

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

Sydney would love to go to college, but instead, she’s been sent into hiding at a posh boarding school in Palm Springs, California–tasked with protecting Moroi princess Jill Dragomir from assassins who want to throw the Moroi court into civil war. Formerly in disgrace, Sydney is now praised for her loyalty and obedience, and held up as the model of an exemplary Alchemist.

But the closer she grows to Jill, Eddie, and especially Adrian, the more she finds herself questioning her age–old Alchemist beliefs, her idea of family, and the sense of what it means to truly belong. Her world becomes even more complicated when magical experiments show Sydney may hold the key to prevent becoming Strigoi—the fiercest vampires, the ones who don’t die. But it’s her fear of being just that—special, magical, powerful—that scares her more than anything. Equally daunting is her new romance with Brayden, a cute, brainy guy who seems to be her match in every way. Yet, as perfect as he seems, Sydney finds herself being drawn to someone else—someone forbidden to her.

When a shocking secret threatens to tear the vampire world apart, Sydney’s loyalties are suddenly tested more than ever before. She wonders how she’s supposed to strike a balance between the principles and dogmas she’s been taught, and what her instincts are now telling her.

Should she trust the Alchemists—or her heart?

I am thankful to Jenn from Bawdy Book Blog!  She is probably on my favorite people’s list.  From the outside people might think we don’t have much in common: she reads YA (mostly) and I don’t but I trust her to give me ideas of YA that I might fit into my 12!  She reads a lot of books that are outside the norm and I love seeing what she is highlighting daily.  I love her personality, her wit, and her outgoing nature!  She is just AWESOME y’all!

  1. I need to read the Bloodlines series! I can’t believe you’ve read a YA book I haven’t read Felicia! It’s like the world has stopped spinning 😉 And I think I need to give Jenn’s blog a visit!

  2. Now I just love Jenn, she is sweet and has amazing taste is books..plus she says Dude as much as I say Awesome. I was trying to stop using it..since I have a slight addiction to the word..but if its good enough for Dean *smokin’ hot Winchester its good enough for me. Jenn ya rock my face off <3
i have never read a Mead book *hangs head in shame* Maybe a goal for 2013?

    • I like both words and use them often. I get asked all the time if I am stuck in the late 80s. The answer is TOTALLY MAN!

Not a single Mead book? If you are going to start with some I suggest the G. Kincade series 🙂 Though Euegenie’s books are a close second. I swear those two gals are the only reason that I have read VA and Bloodlines

Okay, so now that I have that egocentric me me me comment outta the way, I love Richelle Mead, too. I haven’t read the Golden Lily yet, though 🙁 Tell me, is it even better than Bloodlines, whose ARC sits so lovingly on my shelf?

    • I do think The Golden Lily was better than Bloodlines (though I enjoyed that book too). The next one is Indigo Blues but then wait for it…..

4th book is from Adrian’s POV! I am so voting for that book to be out now!
