Hi Y’all! It is November and that is always the month I am reminded that there are tons of things that I am thankful for in my life. This year November will be known as the Month of Thanks. I am going to do 30 days of Thanks here on Geeky Bloggers Book Blog! Each day I will highlight one author (and the book they wrote that moved me) and one blogger (and their awesomeness) that I am thankful for! These are not in any particular order and by no means is 30 going to cover everyone that I love.
I am thankful for Jonathan Maberry and his Joe Ledger series (which I am late too)! This year I read Patient Zero and was pretty much blown away. I don’t know why I was stunned because Dead of Night is in my top 10 books ever read. I know Jonathan can write in a way that will scare the heck out of you and then make you feel everything down to your emotional core. I think what I loved most about Patient Zero is how it straddled the reality of today with a super charged biological weapon that I almost believe could happen. I was totally blown away with the realism! Plus, Joe Ledger like Jack Bauer is on my character dream team of people I would like to get me out of a sticky situation if needed. Everyone has a character dream team, right?
When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week there’s either something wrong with your world or something wrong with your skills… and there’s nothing wrong with Joe Ledger’s skills. And that’s both a good, and a bad thing. It’s good because he’s a Baltimore detective that has just been secretly recruited by the government to lead a new taskforce created to deal with the problems that Homeland Security can’t handle. This rapid response group is called the Department of Military Sciences or the DMS for short. It’s bad because his first mission is to help stop a group of terrorists from releasing a dreadful bio-weapon that can turn ordinary people into zombies. The fate of the world hangs in the balance….
I am thankful to Smash Attack Reads for just being an awesome chic! Seriously y’all, I think it is her drive to make a difference in the world through her career that I respect the most (and I respect a hell of lot of things that she does). I love her humor and her love of all things epic. She has a wonderful way of telling you about the books she reads that spur discussions instead of just being reviews. I love her World Building Wednesdays and her new Let’s Talk feature! She is amazing and I am glad she is a friend!
