Short Stories 5.00

This is going to be a different kind of review for a different kind of book. I ordered Recollection Vol. 1 after seeing the video that Joseph Gordon-Levitt did to promote it and then went to look at Hit Record site: http://www.hitrecord.org/ . This group is made up of an amazing collection of music, short films, graphic, and short story artists. A community that should be embraced and supported.

Since I review books, let me tell you about my favorite story: A New Hevn . It was just brilliant from beginning to end. It was the story of the friendship between Hevn and Urth and all the ups/downs of friendships as old as time. It was just very moving and really made you think.
I also thought the “A Tiny Story” entries were unique and interesting. They were done in a way that you felt so much coming from the page even though there were less than two sentences to the story. In a way they were very Shel Silverstein-esque and since he is one of my favorite combo Poem/Graphic writers that is a huge plus. The Old Tree was my favorite.

Why I gave it a 4.75: All the elements of Recollection Vol 1 work together. No 1 part is completely untied to the whole but you can appreciate them all on their own. The fact that this company works hard to get talented artists seen by the regular people is amazing and should be supported. All in all, very glad that I bought this on a whim and ended up with a gem!
