From Goodreads: A smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light.” But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want
Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life…and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.
This is a thrilling debut novel from an exciting newcomer to the world of paranormal romantic suspense.

Audio Review: Lorelei King does an EXCELLENT job with the narration of the audiobook. She has great pacing and excellent “voices” for the many characters!
What I Loved: What an utterly unique book First Grave on the Right was! From the moment Charlie is introduced to us as a Grim Reaper, we are taken on a totally fun and sometimes wild ride. There are so many moments of twists and turns as Charlie navigates the world talking to both the dead and the living, that you just want to go “ohhhhh, awwwwww”. I think what I loved the most was that this series reminds me of a combo mystery/thriller with fun paranormal aspects. A totally enjoyable ride from beginning to end!
What I Liked: The characters supporting Charlie were fantastic and varying in personalities. Reyes was possibly the most enigmatic and I have a feeling that in the future he will go in my love list. Cookie and her daughter almost made my love list this time. In fact, I want more Cookie—she is a riot and a great friend for Charlie. Charlie’s family was interesting! I found the backstory of Charlie’s growing-up years to be both heartbreaking and oddly hopeful! This is a character rich story that makes you want to learn more.
Why I gave it a 4.25: Fantastic beginning to a series! I am really looking forward to following Charlie’s adventures in the future!
