Last night Kelley Armstrong came to Dallas to do a book signing, reading, and Q&A session for The Reckoning. It was a great session (even though I was a little late and only caught the tail-end of the reading).
It was fantastic to see how many young readers are out there. I know there is a huge debate going on about YA novels and are they appropriate for the age group they are aimed at but I have to say I like seeing so many young people excited about reading. It is fantastic! How many of these kids are going to be the next Stephanie’s, Kelley’s, or …..
While I was there I met 2 of her biggest fans! I know because they had made shirts for the event and were telling me how she inspired them to write. What I had to love was that Kelley spent time with everyone who came by to have her sign something so she talked to these two sisters for a good 5 minutes. It made me respect her as an author and a person, to take time to acknowledge your fans is a huge thing! Below are the two future authors I was talking about!
Watch out world they will be coming to a bookshelf near you sometime in the future I am sure!
During her non-reading time you can find her hanging with her rescue furr children named after book characters: Lizzie a beautiful cattle dog mix (Pound Pup), Cinder a beautiful Shep/Pitt mix (Pound Pup), and Minerva a beautiful Shep/Pitt mix (Foster Fail). Gathering with friends and family, attending conventions, watching movies/tv shows, rooting for the 49rs, and crocheting.
