Lord of Rage by Jill Monroe

Date Read: October 2011

Goodreads

Once upon a time…the Blood Sorcerer vanquished the kingdom of Elden. To save their children, the queen scattered them to safety and the king filled them with vengeance. Only a magical timepiece connects the four royal heirs. Now they must return and save Elden…and time is running out…

Princess Breena had been dreaming of her warrior lover when she was ripped from her Elden castle and thrown into a strange, dangerous realm. Lost and alone, she prayed for survival and vengeance for her stolen kingdom. She found both in a woodland cottage…in a dark bear of a man.

The goldenhaired beauty had eaten his food and slept in his bed when Osborn found her. Though he wanted to awaken his virgin princess to carnal pleasures, Breena wanted more—including his warrior skills. Skills the oncelegendary mercenary had long buried. Now Osborn had a choice—risk his life or deny his princess her fairytale ending.

My-Thoughts

Read for Review (NetGalley)
Overall Rating 3.50
Story Rating 3.50
Character Rating 3.50

Note: This is the second in the Royal House of Shadows series.

What I Loved: I kind of like the wicked cool twist on two different childhood stories that I loved: Beauty and the Beast and Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. Jill did a wonderful job of updating them and making them work for this section of the Royal House of Shadows storyline.

What I Liked: I really liked Brenna and Osborne! I thought they fit well together and their romance played out pretty evenly over the course of the story. They both had a lot to learn from each other and they both found strength in each other that made me *swoon*

Complaints: I am all kinds of confused about the timeline in this series. I am going to guess that they are happening parallel but it is a little confusing at times….

Why I gave it a 3.50: I am really interested in how this series is going to play out. I enjoyed the world building in Lord of Rage and felt it explained what happened to the siblings. I think it should have been the first book in the series 🙂

3.5? I wasn't a huge fan of the first book in this series, but with each book written by a different author, I was hesitant to skip the rest of the series. Since I have this on my Kindle already, I think I'm going to put it back on the TBR.

Oh, I loved those stories as a kid. I think it would be fun to read an updated take on them. Plus I'm always up for anything that will make me swoon! 🙂

I read this a while ago also, I didn't love it as much as Lord of the Vampires – but I'm really excited to read Lord of Wolfyn! 😀

I really need to read this one. I am so curious about how the authors tie in with one another. Of course you sold me with saying it was a twist with Beauty and the Beast. I love that story! 🙂

I haven't started this series yet… you think I should start with this one instead of the first one that came out?

  6. Paranormal Haven

I'm with you on the time line confusion. I ended up liking this one more than the first book (and a lot more than the 3rd one). Can't wait for Nalini's book. Nice review Felicia!!
