Did you know that June is Audiobook Month? Now many of you know that I am a huge fan of Audiobooks! In fact I am now up to about 40% of all my reading being audiobooks. Since I am on track to read about 200 books this year that is quite a bit! They are perfect for work when I need to shut out the sounds of the office, the treadmill for when I need to shut out the fact that I am doing that dreaded exercising thing, and in the car when I am out and about!
Here is my Listening Agenda for June:
So that you can hear what the narrator sounds like here is an interview with him about Changeling…

Courageous (Black Hawk Series) by Diana Palmer
Carpathia by Matt Forbeck
Pants on Fire by Maggie Alderson
Vlad: The Last Confession by C. C. Humphreys
Unholy, The (Krewe of Hunters Trilogy) by Heather Graham
Summer Nights (Fool’s Gold Series) by Susan Mallery
Never Tell: A Novel of Suspense (Ellie Hatcher Series) by Alafair Burke
Since I love audiobooks and want to share my love of them with you: I am giving TWO lucky winners their choice of one audiobook. You can choose any audiobook that is currently being sold at Amazon or Barnes and Noble (I have linked to their audiobook pages).
The Rules:
- Leave a comment telling me why you like audiobooks OR why you want to try an audiobook?
- In the comment also give me an example of the one you want to try (You aren’t held to this–if you win you will get to choose at the time of drawing. I just want ideas of books that appeal to you)
- Enter by June 30th 2012 at midnight
- Be from the US (Sorry about that but with formats I am not sure how it works outside the US)
- Be 13 years or older
Good Luck!

I like to listen to audiobooks right before bed. After a day of looking at the computer, it’s nice to give my eyes a rest. I would like to listen to Clockwork Prince – I’ve heard it’s amazing!
I like to listen to audiobooks when I workout and especially during long commutes.
I haven’t listened to many audiobooks, but I love listening to the Stephanie Plum series and the In Death series. If I won I might pick an In Death audiobook or maybe something new.
Thanks for doing this awesome giveaway!
~Krista
I really enjoy audiobooks, especially in the car they pass the time and make the commute a treat. I chose Explosive Eighteen: A Stephanie Plum Novel for no reason other than I have read the entire series, but this and I am very curious to see how it plays out in audio :) Thank you for this awesome treat of a giveaway opportunity.

If you haven’t heard the Stephanie Plum books in audio –I HIGHLY recommend them. They are some of the best on the market!
I love audiobooks! I listen to my ipad during my lunch at work. I find it both relaxing and productive at the same time!
I’d love to listen to Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination That Changed America Forever.
I know–they are a great way to kill time at work :)
I love audio-books!! I’m a platinum Audible.com member for 2 years now. I have so far 60+ books and counting. Tomorrow is my 2 more credits day so I get two more!! *bounces* I really love the 5th of every month as you can guess. You can multitask with them or just listen and be swept away into the next great read. Although the right narrator is really important I have to point out. Even if the book is epic it will fail miserably if they choose the wrong one.
:) Thanks SOOO much for the chance to win one!!
I am a platinum member too :) I have over a 100 and try to get people hooked on them all the time. I figure if there is more demand that more books and higher production will go into effect :)
My first audio (besides when I listened to them as a child before I could read… yes, I remember those) was Marshall’s The Hidden Life of Dogs I listened to on a road trip. Another was the Harry Potter books (I forget which ones) on another trip. Enjoyed those. Recently it’s YOUR fault I enjoyed Darynda Jones’s First Grave on the Right. So, if I win it will either be her 3rd book or I might let you pick for me! ;D
If you win I will pick for you—cause I have a next suggestion for you anyway :)
I haven’t tried an audio book yet but I would love to try either one of the the BDB books or the Fools Gold books (so completely different, I know!) There are some nights when I would love to curl up with my Kindle but am just too tired to read so I settle for the TV instead…an audio book would solve my problem LOL
I recommend the BDB series in audio! I am about to listen to my first Fools Gold in audio and excited about that :) I think those should be really good!
Ohhhhhh what a generous and fabulous giveaway….:D I love audio book because I can multitask, you know clean the house and listen to a zombie Apocalypse…I also love listening to them in the car when Im alone….
Im wanting to try Canada, a Nora Roberts and another True Blood book…..well I mean those are the ones on my wishlist.
I really enjoyed the latest Sookie on audio :) I will have to look up Canada :)
I fell in love with audio books when I used to do a LOT of driving — one of my faves was J.D. Robb’s In Death series. I’d love to check out A Game of Thrones on audio!
Thanks for the amazing giveaway!
elizabeth @ bookattict . com
I listened to the first JD Robb book and agree they are really well done :) I will continue the series on audio!
I also have an audiobook addiction. They are great for a commute or for keeping me entertained while doing housechores.
I have been wanting to try a China Melville book, or perhaps I would go with some classic, favorite authors – like Neil Gaiman or William Gibson. Or a new author I discovered a little over a year ago – N. K. Jemisin. So hard to choose when there are so many good books out there.
Thanks for hosting such a fun giveaway!
I just bought a Neil Gaiman book on audio and can’t wait to try it! He is one of my favorite authors :)
I love listening to audio books in the car. I would love to hear Stephen King’s 11/22/63 on Audiobook. Please enter me in contest. [email protected]
That particular book is on my wishlist too! I have heard amazing things about it :)
Im an avid reader Ive never experienced an audiobook before but would love to try one .I think it would be awesome when Im driving to and from work .Thank you for this chance .Have an awesome weekend

You should really give them a try! They are great if done well :)
I do like audiobooks. It gives another take on how the book sounds. I’ve read Game of Thrones, but would like to hear it as well. I’d also like to listen to a mystery….Elizabeth Peters comes to mind as I think Jim Dale is the narrator. OR maybe a Diana Gabaldon book w/Davinia Porter.
The Outlander series is fantastic on audio! I highly recommend them. Also anything narrated by Jim Dale is going to be fantastic :)
I had no idea June was audiobook month. I Love Audiobooks!! I have a long hour commute to work everyday and I only listen to audiobooks. They are so much better than pre-6am radio!! LOL!! I am averaging anywhere from 10 to 12 hours a week on the LA freeway. And audiobooks make it no problem. I am open to try anything. I am currently listening to 1Q84 and I just finished Beauty Queens. LOVED THAT AUDIOBOOK!!
Thanks for the giveaway!
I know what you mean about pre-6am (I get to work at 5am) and audiobooks are great for that! I will have to check out Beauty Queens!
I adore audios.
With a young baby at home they are the only way I can make time for books. I love that I can run errands or do laundry and listen.
I’m thinking I would love to try a new mystery.
I’ve been wanting to pick up Red Glove.
Thanks for the awesome contest.
Question:
Do you have a link to all your audiobook reviews? I’ve been trying to find them :)
How long have you been listening to audiobooks?
http://www.geekybloggersbookblog.com/category/ratings/audiobook/
That is where all my audio reviews that have tagged should be :) I moved to wordpress 2 months ago so I am still in the process of tagging my back posts.
I agree that audiobooks are amazing :) I have been listening to them over 3 years now.
Oh cool! Thank you :)
I wasn’t sure if you had an audiobook tab somewhere that I was missing.
:)
Thanks :)
And 3 years is awesome!
I love audiobooks. I always have one in my car and at least four on my iPod. There are some days at work when I sit and do research for hours on end. It gets tedious and the audiobooks always help be escape and make my day more enjoyable.
I would like to listen to The Black Dagger Brotherhood series on audio. I think it would add more emotion to the books and bring them to a new level.
Oh I listened to the last BDB book on audio and I will be doing that way from here on out. The narrator is amazing and just add the oomph to the story. I highly recommend them!
im not sure how to classify Scorpio Races. It is about mythological killer sea horses. It reminded me of The Man from Snowy River. Way different that the typical YA.
I will have to check it out—it sounds interesting enough I might be able to forget it is a YA!
I didn’t know that June was audiobook month so thanks for the info. Audiobooks have definitely grown on me as I’ve gotten better at picking them. I really love audiobooks because I’m on the road a lot visiting my brother and other family members so they certainly make the drives more enjoyable. I would want the second book in the Wicked Lovely series because my library doesn’t have it.
It is awesome (June Audio Month) because almost every publisher has audiobook giveaways happening right now. I think that is why I love it LOL
Oh, ya….Scorpio Races is FABULOUS.
That is a sort of Dystopian book right? I think I looked into it but never got it! If the Audio is good I will have to consider it more heavily :)
I totally love audiobooks. At first I thought it would be like cheating, but as I realized that I actually had to function in society and that required me to PUT DOWN THE BOOK. NO!!!!! So I started using audiobooks when I am driving, doing work that doesn’t require real thought, or working out.
Best ones I’ve listened to so far: Daughter of Smoke and Bones, Cinder, Leverage, Pure, Morganville Vampires aren’t too bad. I totally wished I had Beauty Queens, The Iron Druid Chronicles and many, many more I’ve heard great things about.
I liked the narration on the Daughter of Smoke and Bones, it was gosh darn good.
Anything narrated by Luke Daniels is a good choice (Iron Druid, Krewe of Hunters, ect) :)
I love audiobooks because they make the commute to work so much more easier, plus they are fantastic for when I have to work the early morning shift before the store I work at opens. I can just pop in my ear buds and it makes the day go by so much more faster!
I would really like to try reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo on audiobook. I hear so many great things about it, but I just can’t seem to read it. I think maybe listening to the book will be a much better way to experience it.
That was how I “read” The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is on audio and it was done pretty well. When the “investigation” starts, the audio really shines!
I love audiobooks because they’re my new crack. Do you realize you can do just about anything at the same time you get to “read” a new book. I can clean my house and take care of my kids and drive around the valley all while listening to a book. *drops voice to a whisper* I can even work. It’s like killing 5 birds with one stone. And sometimes the narrators are so good I think it makes the book better. Charley Davidson series is a prime example. The book I think I’d like to listen to are the Stephanie Plum books. Lorelei King is fast becoming a fav narrator of mine!
Totally Agree! You can do just about anything and I love both of the narrators you listed!
I love audiobooks because they make my driving commute bearable. This is HUGE since I spend 10 hours/week on the road. And, sometimes, they’re even BETTER than reading the physical book. (Iron Druid Chronicles, Beauty Queens)
And… TRICKED! :)
I can’t believe you have to drive so much — I used to and don’t miss it at all! I bet audiobooks do help with that drive :)
