The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Air Bound returns to the mysterious coastal town of Sea Haven where six sisters of the heart are bound by the elements, and one is stalked by an inescapable past… After escaping from a cult, Lexi found refuge with her sisters on the farm that more than sustained her body—it nurtured her soul as well. But she never forgot the terror she left behind or the always present fear that the cult would find her again, and claim her. Then her nightmare came true. Lexi was discovered and threatened—only to be suddenly saved by a stranger. He is Gavriil Prakenskii, and he’s awestruck by the woman he’s rescued. She is destined for him. He can feel it in his soul. But how can Lexi find happiness with a man steeped in secrets and shadows, one intimately acquainted with violence, and whose very love could be the death of them? First Thought when Finished: There were 2 things that really bugged me in Earth Bound by Christine Feehan that played a huge part in the rating from a personal level. These 2 things probably won’t bother other people.
The 2 things:
1: Breeding his dogs
2: Final Smex Scene had an unbelievable moment for me.
Quick Thoughts: I wanted to love this book. The Sisters of the Heart series (and the original series it spinned off from) are my favorites by Christine Feehan (and I am a pretty huge fan). However, I just couldn’t get into Lexi and Gavriil. I really like Lexi. Her back story is heart-breaking. She has come such a long way and deserved a spectacular romance. However, Gavriil just wasn’t that guy (at least in my mind). He is heart-breaking in his own way but their chemistry was just off. Either it was all the sex thoughts in his head when her problem was intimacy or him breeding his dogs bugged me more than I thought—I couldn’t fall in love with him. So, since I couldn’t fall in love with him the romance didn’t work for me. Simply put–I was just disappointed.
Narrated By Mike Chamberlain / Length: 15 hrs and 2 mins
Where the story didn’t work, the narration was outstanding. Mike did a great job bringing these characters to life. I really enjoyed his storytelling. His pacing, emotions, and delivery was terrific.
