The incomparable J. D. Robb presents the latest moving and suspenseful novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling Eve Dallas series.

In a decrepit, long-empty New York building, Lieutenant Eve Dallas’s husband begins the demolition process by swinging a sledgehammer into a wall. When the dust clears, there are two skeletons wrapped in plastic behind it. He summons his wife immediately—and by the time she’s done with the crime scene, there are twelve murders to be solved.

The place once housed a makeshift shelter for troubled teenagers, back in the mid-2040s, and Eve tracks down the people who ran it. Between their recollections and the work of the force’s new forensic anthropologist, Eve begins to put names and faces to the remains. They are all young girls. A tattooed tough girl who dealt in illegal drugs. The runaway daughter of a pair of well-to-do doctors. They all had their stories. And they all lost their chance for a better life.

Then Eve discovers a connection between the victims and someone she knows. And she grows even more determined to reveal the secrets of the place that was called The Sanctuary—and the evil concealed in one human heart.

JUST A NOTE: Read It File It is for books that I have read that I need to keep track of. The reviews will be super short (think tweet longer length) but will serve the purpose of getting the books into UBB for tracking purposes 🙂

Read It File It: I really dug the case in Concealed in Death by J.D. Robb, it was twisty and brutal! Which BTW, is my favorite kind of case written by her. This was one of the better ones in the series.

Audio Review:

Narrated by: Susan Ericksen /Length: 14 hrs and 5 mins

Susan is the characters of this series. She nails the pitch, timing, and delivers a great performance every time in the “In Death” series. I highly recommend these on audio (though I stick with only a man could do Roarke complete justice-that isn’t on Susan though)

  1. I have a lot of the books in this series that I’ve picked up at book sales over the years, but I think I may just add them to my audio TBR since there are so many of them. Sounds like good treadmill fodder to me. 🙂

  2. I need to get into the habit of writing shorter reviews for books that I just need to get off my TBR pile. I always feel guilty though, but so many bloggers seem to be doing tweet-type posts now. I’m happy that this was a solid installment by J.D. Robb.

    • Oh gosh I feel guilty about it but really I was getting to the point where I thought about not writing it all. I figure this way it at least gets out to the universe 🙂

  3. Oh I have many book in the series in French but I confess I haven’t read any yet. I really should try because I have like 31 books I think lol. I hope I’ll like them.

  4. Ha! I don’t like mine too brutal – so probably enjoy the more low key ones in the series. I do agree that Susan Eriksen does a great job with the narration of these books.
