#FitReaders: Commit to Exercise for August 2016

Welcome to #FitReaders hosted by Geeky Bloggers Book Blog  and That’s What I’m Talking About.

It is time to commit to exercise for the month of August 2016  ! Whether you are just joining us, need to get back on the wagon, or just going to keep up your progress from last year– now is the time to stand up and say “I’m in! I’m committed to getting up and getting moving!”

Also new feature this year: Virtual 5K/10K races

What is a Virtual 5k?  This Virtual 5k is organized online and FitReaders from all over the world can compete. Where it is different from a traditional 5K is that you are responsible for completing the walk/run at any place you desire, at any time during the race timeframe that works for you. For this series, each race will need to be completed between the first and last day of the month. You will need to take a picture at the end of the race (not of your face if you don’t want but your time, song list, ect) and post it either on FB, Twitter, or your check-in. Then add your name to the finish line page for August so that I can keep track for end of the year medals. Grab your virtual ribbon so that you can display it proudly on your check-ins. If at the end of the year you have completed 10 of the 12 races–you will get a medal

  1. July was so absolutely crazy for me. I’m looking forward to a low key August! My goal continues for this month–average 10K steps a day/70K a week! I also started running a little again (I walk a lot but running is not my thing) so I’m going to see how that goes. I do yoga every day, so I get a workout there too.

  2. I’m in…I can’t believe it’s already August!!! My goals are going to be simple…I’m treating this as a rest month as I start training for my big walk in March in September!!!! So my goals are 30 minutes of active walking every day, 10k steps every M-F, 7500 steps on the weekends and mindful eating.

  3. I am committing to 12k steps per day. I have no classes this month (yay). Hoping to get all green dots for my hours 🙂

    I am also back to the gym twice per week and social run weekly.

    I am tracking my intake on MFP again. I weighed myself and took my measurements. I need to get back on track again.

    I also need to find an august 5k race.

    I am calling this Accountability August.
