Read for Fun/Listened for Review (Kindle/Penguin)
Overall Rating: 1.00
Story Rating: 1.00
Character Rating: 1.00

Audio Rating: —– (didn’t listen to enough on audio so not rating)

First Thought when Finished: The Shadows by J.R. Ward will be loved by many but just not me. To be fair, the last 3 books have been rated 3, 2, 3 (with both 3’s being barely) so it is fair to say that I should probably break up with the series (which is sad because 13 books investment is no small thing).

Read/Listened for Fun (Audible/Kindle)
Overall Rating: DNF

First Thoughts: Younger Next Year for Women had a good message (mostly) but it was buried under joining a gym, skiing stories, swimming stories, and insulting terms that made me shut down the book!

Listened for Review (Simon & Schuster)
(Finished 4 of 7 disks)
Overall Rating: None (DNF)

Audio Rating: 4.00 (Not part of the overall rating)

Why did I DNF? Red Hill is going to work for other people very well but I was just not connecting with the story (or characters). I felt that I gave Red Hill a pretty good whirl (50%) but at that point I just had to call it a wash. Why didn’t I connect with the characters? I felt the adults were a little too cardboard and when they did get emotional it felt forced.

The Perils of Cyber-Dating by Julie Spira: I do not know where to begin on why this book was so bad. I will start with the fact that even though she states she is a Hopeful Romantic Looking for Love all the way through the book she mention her size 0 shopping sprees, her brand names, types of cars, professions of dates, swanky upscale “meet” places. So I am not so sure that she was looking for love though she did have some pretty horrific “dating” stories. Of course, the fault was never hers and the guys were always the one to do wrong. I quickly threw out the self-help part as I felt the author really had nothing in common with the average person looking for love online. Plus with rules like you can lie about your age by 5 to 10 years and your body weight by 5 to 10 lbs but be upset if the guy does it was a little far fetching. So I then just read it from an entertainment point of view but she was neither funny nor engaging. I would say read this book if you are in the 2% of the dating […]
